Name the 'Mystery' O-Ring...

Ok, strange question for you all...

I just got my Minimag w/ retro valve back from AGD last week. Upon inspection, I noticed a large, black o-ring wrapped around the power feed, right were it attaches to the mainbody. What the heck? Is this a magical o-ring that gives my minimag some sort of superpower? Just what is this mystery o-ring...

They are just there on all new mags now, maybie keeping moisture out of the breach, or something to do with blowback. I remember this a while ago, but don't recall what the reasoning for it was.

I found a mystery o-ring the other day on a gun I repaired... someone had stuck a black o-ring on the regulator valve stem.... and then wondered why it leaked from the seam in the valve.

LOL... This oring is a -212 buna o-ring all it is used for is cosmetic look that o-ring dosen't have a purpose.

I got 2 from AGD, that's 90 cents worth right there. They make the black teflon bodies look a bit better, it's kind of embarassing when you chop a ball and paint is gushing out around the weld.

Last time I got my 'Mag back from the factory, they had installed this o-ring. It presented no problem until I installed my Warp Feed. The o-ring wouldn't allow the Warp Feed hose adapter on the bottom of the power feed far enough; I had to remove the o-ring and therefor lost all of its inherent magical abilities.

its an elf i guess AGD is going for cosmetics now too considering what is coming out. maybe they can make something so when you chop a ball wiht a CF body the paint won't splatter straight at you... cause it sure did on me not that much, but it was a new body and i was surprised .
