    68automag trouble

i'm having trouble with my old level 7.
It has all fresh soft parts (except the o-ring on the reg piston assy)
the trigger is going absolutely crazy. 2-3 shots for one pull, super sensitive, lots of short stroking, chopping and blooping.
Thought it might be a trigger rod problem so i adjusted it both ways and noticed no difference.
I adjusted the input pressure and noticed no difference.
so i opened it up and looked everywhere... everything seems fine, but when i screwed the reg nut back in and aired it up, it began leaking out of the rail...
it doesn't seem like an on off leak, but more like a reg/valve leak, but i could be wrong. I tried two different reg seats, they didn't help. the reg piston assy seemed a little dirty so i cleaned it up and put it back in, and left plenty of grease on the spring pack. it still leaks the same...
-the leak is not out of the back of the reg
-the leak seems to be coming up around the valve from the rail
-are the 2 problems linked (bad on/off)??????
    please help

Try replacing the Oring on the regulator piston sounds like to me you are getting leaking out the oil hole(s) in the back half of the valve.

This is a silly question but did you put the on/off pin in upside down? That can cause your trigger problems. Also was the gun shooting ok before changing the orings. Also check to see if your seer or bolt is worn. Last question what is the output pressure of your tank ?

      this helped & pressure question

i found the leak... it was the reg body o-ring...
I didn't bother to check that because it seemed so elementary...also they don't get much wear and i've never replaced one before, but that's what i get for assuming.

The trigger has gotten better with some trigger rod adjusting, but it's still not 100%. I have an aftermarket double trigger that may be the trouble.

i'm running 800-850psi into the gun, but doesn't the gun regulate itself to something like 375-400psi?

could i just run 500psi into the valve without any problems...everyone says run 800 but is that just for RT's??????

A good rule of thumb is 100-150 psi difference between regulators, for proper air flow ( ie to prevent shoot down etc.) .... i was just making sure you didnt have the output of your tank at 450 or something like that
