    Has anyone ever considered?

I was trying to come up with a few good ideas on how to reduce the weight of my entire EMAG last night. YES, I know all about ULE but I like being different from the pack, and also I like created my own look.

I'm having a ULE railed milled with the wings taken completly off, but I was wondering has anyone ever considered cross drilling throuhg the frame?

It is hard to explain but I plan on getting pictures up tomorrow to show what I did, and how I did it. I have a highend drill press and many good alumi drill bits, but I marked off and drilled holes around the main grip. "NO STRESS ADDED on frame, but I have two different EMAGS and one with ULE Frame and one with the one I created. I haven't been able to measure the exact weight but it feels like my new one is a lot lighter than my realy ULE frame. *And I like the new look, b/c it goig to have a plexie glass custom grip to see everything.

It may look a little bit more abnormal, BUT it is a one of a kind and I know I'm going to have to mold or create my own grips. I should have pictures up tomorrow.

I really was wondering if anyone has ever attempted this or even thought about it? I still have not touched any part where the normal ULE is done, so I can mill the insides down to even cut off more weight.

Overall if all my AutoCAD stats are correct, I should be able to take off almost 1.1 lbs from the entire setup. I'll keep this updated as I get the parts done, and can find a more updated weighing system.

Shane-O is what got me thinking on how to change my weight.
His looked nice if he'd only learn how to mill with the bit going in the forward direction and not in reverse..

Sorry, but that trial was just straight funny.

Here are the pictures of the beast.

I'm still working on created the custom see-view grips and I'm also sanding everything down and I'll probable re-anno it so it even fills in the the holes.

Haven't had time to see how much weight was removed, going to test next time go to school.

That's actually a really interesting idea. Personally I wouldn't do it, but if that works for you keep going man. Looks crazy.

You should get custom mouse grips. I would go for a "Jerry" looking mouse. Mickey would just get you in trouble w/ Disney, they do more suing than SP. Maybe Chucky Cheese...Nah.

Actually i will be using a drill press in my shop class at school to see if i can shave some ounces of my classic rail and hyperframe. A similar project i suppose. I wont have any exposed holes though(hopefully)

Everything was shaved and buffed down. You can't even tell a difference in feel. I am making cutom grips which create no open holes into the frame, so nothing can get in.

I did it b/c I'm tired of trading away my EMAG to only buy another down the road. I don't seen anyone wanting to buy this so I can't try trading it.

I also have a custom maded rail being created, NO HOLES like this, but it total I should lose almost 20-25 ounces. almost 1.5 lbs on the gun. It feel so light with a ULE rail on it, and my new rail will even be lighter than a normal ULE body.

It might look odd, but it feels no different and "I" created it. "pictures to make it look like a shooty job but everthing is measured to a T and in direct line with one another. No random holes places all over.

I figured, I'd get flamed a little, but I've been playing with an EMAG for almost 5 yeras now, and finally did something different.

I'll be watching to see what this is like when it's done. How sturdy is it still? What's the thinnest bit of metal on there? How'd you decide where to drill holes? Cool, though, seems like it'd be a hell of a lot lighter.

Honestly you can't even tell a difference in the feel besides it's lighter. The thinest part on the handle is .05 on an inch. I used a highend caliper to do all the measuring and placements on the handle. I made it so I never broke the outside linning of the gun so it wouldn't effect the feel. The only time you notice any different is if you hold the gun down at your side when you just standing around, but that was when I didn't have my gloves on. I did test it with and without my glove. When I played like I normally do with my gloves it played and felt the same.

I also used AutoCAD to lay out the best possible spots for the holes so I would have no "dead weight" missed.

I can't wait to get my custom ULE made with no wings on the frame to fully reduce the weight.

Has anyone ever heard or how to replace or reduce the weight on the battery? My battery compartment weights more than the rest of the frame now, with the board and soleniod installed.

I put back on my old custom grips and still feel no difference so I really have finished for the most part now, just have to see if I can get better pictures.
