More strange E-mag questions

In the area of the battery pack, where the grip joins with the casing, there are three half round cuts in the underneath portion of the grip frame. One of these slots is where the battery disconnector pin slides in.
My question is, what purpose do the other two slots serve?
I need to know if they are needed or if they can be tampered with.

I won't show what I'm working on til it's done, sorry.
Those pictures are helpful though. To me it looks like those slots do nothing, as I hoped.
I asked Tuna, he should be taking some shots for me and answering me soon.
I took it here because I need a quick answer.
