Level 10 shims.

Ok, i know this is odd for someone whos owned over 7 mags to ask.. but im a bit confused.

What exactly do level 10 shims do?
-I keep getting confused with them and the carrier. So i can make my level 10 more sensitive with them..?

I have always tuned my mag with the shortest spring, and 2 shims in the level 10.. but i would really like to try and tune my mag much better. I like no leaks.. but no chops would be much better. I have been chopping latley with my current setup.

Current Setup-
Shortest spring
2 shims
1.5 carrier.. i believe, it doesnt leak or have any problems. Leaking isnt my problem here.

They decide when the air is vented out of the air chamber in the power tube.

if its working good now, then just put in a stiffer spring to prevent it from chopping. make sure you turn your velocity way up when you do it too. i put in the red spring after having it tuned with the short spring, and the gun wouldn't shoot or chuff. i had to turn the velocity adjuster atleast 2 full turns to get it up.
