What is next for AGD? At a technical view, AGD is kind of at a stand still.
Whats next for AGD?

Yeah, but other companies are turning out more products which appeal to the growing demographic of paintballers. Paintball is the third fastest growing extreme sport. I love my RT, but I'm just concerned that AGD isn't going to develope at the rate of other major companies, especially since Tom Kaye has left. I am afraid that the mag is changing into a "cult marker", unless it already has.Originally posted by RogueFactorFrom a technical stanpoint, every company is at a stand still.
One should ask, Whats next for paintball?
Mags recently haven't undergone much change, aside from cosmetic, which is being done by third party compaines. -
Haha, Im in two cults. I own a Phantom and a Mag.
I dont think Mags will ever die. People have been saying that about CCI for years now, but Mike is as busy as ever, with each phantom ordered, you should expect to wait a couple months or so because he is so busy. He had a semi in the works a long time ago, but he said that he wont release it until it is absolutely perfected, and that may never come. But from rumors that I have heard, AGD has something in the making. But whether that is a rumore or fact, I dont know.Comment

I see where you are coming from. The mag is a solid design and it seems to be proficient enough to compete with the technology which is continualy being developed. However, the only things which I see as improvements are the level 10 and the ULE. Everything else is just a variant of mag parts which already have been around for a while. Eventhough the valve/bolt deisgn in all mags is reliable, it doesn't appeal to those who would rather by a brand new Proto or Angel. But then again, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I guess mags being cult markers isn't really good for AGD at an economical stand point, but what are you gonna do.Originally posted by RogueFactorI cant think of anything new from any major company that is a technical advancement for the current market, besides the mQ-Valve. The propane marker and e-volt while great ideas, are niche ideas that will eventually have an impact.
And at this point, most companies arent really turning out more products. They are still trying to get rid of 2005 gear. Sales have slown, the market is saturated.
Most "new stuff" is just repacakged old stuff. Last years model with a little extra flash.
Whereas AGD actually did something new:
Went from Stainless bodies to Aluminum bodies. Went from Stainless Valves to Aluminum Valves. Went from a 3lb trigger pull to a 1 lb trigger pull. Created a Scenario marker. Introduced the Flagship XMag marker. Created an Anti-Chop Bolt kit from scratch. Created 2 trigger frames direct from the manufacturer.
Here is the list of stuff from over the last 3-4 years:
XMag w/ACE
ULE Body
Tac-One
XValve
Level 10 Anti-Chop Bolt Kit
ULE Trigger Kit
Y-Grip
Intelliframe
If the mag is a cult marker, so be it. The Phantom and the Palmer line can be considered the same, and both of those dont require "new stuff" every year to continue being used.
The mag is built as bulletproof as it can. Now its just a matter of cosmetics, which can be purchased from the aftermarket customizers...as youve stated.Comment

I guess the MAG being a cult marker is partly at fault with marketing.
There, I said it. AT FAULT.
Being a cult marker isn't a good thing at all.

Mags are becoming more and more mainstream again. There was a guy buying one at the store yesterday when I was there. Eventually, AGD will have to decide whether to produce more mags, or to continue letting the community of trading and other companies making the new products continue. When this situation arises, they may decide to do something bold. We won't know until it happens
IM SORRY AO FOR DISOBEYING YOUR SIG RULES!!!! FORGIVE ME!!!

All the new guns coming out today are VARIANTS of the existing technology in their previous guns. Maybe the parts are a little smaller and a little different milling but technology wise they are pretty much the same.
Why dont people see that? They keep saying that AGD is coming out with nothing new, well neither is anyone else - except for newer packaging.
I mean is an 06 Angel all that different than an 05, same with the Protos or DMs. They are not all that different. Just a little smaller.
hype, hype, hype, hype. And people fall for it.Comment

As above, I think that right now paintball tech is at a standstill.
Most of the "new" markers coming out are old designs with tweaks to make them perform slightly better or simply with new anodizing/milling, etc.
A few years ago the big thing was bps & who had the most but now with the cap at 17bps (is that right?) that doesn't seem to be as important.
The most excitement recently has been over the Ion which isn't anything new technically, just economically.
What more do you want from a 'mag? Maybe if you made a suggestion, something constructive, your question could be answered but as it is the 'mag pretty much does all you could ask from it.Comment

I wouldnt exactly call the Tac One a "new" creation. Its basically parts off the new ule stuff slapped together with a newly milled body and the wingless ule rail.
I should know, I built one instead of buying one.
