    Wierd Mag Valve

A few days ago someone showed me a mag valve where the back half of the valve didn't match. Most of the lettering on the back was faded - but it had a "made by airgun designs for PMI N. America" or something like that scribed on it. I took a picture but it turned out like dung and I cant make out any of the other faded writing.

Anybody got a wild guess what it could be?

it is probably aftermarket, most mags dont need them, but the really old one the two holes from the reg to the valve dont line up, so they made some aftermarket ones to fix this, they also made some smartparts valve too

Hmm, wonder if anyone knows about AGD making an aftermarket reg for PMI and if so, what the heck was it supposed to do?

It probably had the 8 hole mod that was using on level 6 automags because some people said it helped with airflow .... ans made one called the phase 2 and i believe lab industries made one called the hurricane as well as the pmi version.

I just bought a used mag myself, and the back half of the valve thingy (I think the back half is the regulator, right?) is like, chrome, not brushed steel or anything. Noting written anywhere on it at all. Very shiny chrome look. When you unscrew it from the fronthalf and look at it, I think there are 8 holes there (haven't looked at it recently)...is that the 8 hole mod I hear people talking about? Any idea who makes that reg? There is nothing to ID it and the guy before me assumed it was the stock back. I'd get pics, but I'm packing to go on vacation.

I've looked at several pictures of regs made by other componies but they all seemed to have something engraved on them, like the ANS phase II. This has nothing engraved or written or anything at all on it.

Impy - Yes, that is what is generally referred to as the 8-hole mod.

There were many backs made by different companies. Generally these "backs" are really the regulator chargers. Smart Parts did perform a mod for valves that included an 8-hole mod, but there was not a mass produced charger replacement produced. One more aftermarket charger to add to the growing list is a black aluminum 8-hole charger made by Shocktec. I have one and it is a ton lighter than the stock stainless steel charger. It actually makes your Classic Valve feel more like an Retro Valve becuase of the stainless front and aluminum back.

Even tho this seems to be a AGD-made product (for PMI), I assume you couldn't trade it in for an X-valve? Any one know for sure?

According to the AGD website you can
You MAY turn in a mismatched valve - that is, a valve where the serial number on the valve body and the regulator half do not match. You may turn in a valve where the valve body has an AGD serial number and the other half is an aftermarket regulator. You may not turn in half a valve.
This is directly from the site down at the bottom Go Xvalve
