    Brand New Tac-One Problem

    Hello,

I just received my new Tac-One. When I first gassed it up, the gun fired correctly. After refilling my tank (HPA 68/3000) and oiling the gun (a couple of drops in the ASA) the problems began. When I fire the gun, it will go automatic for 3 or 4 shots before it stops. It's as if the gun was an electro set to a 3 round burst. Now if I hold the trigger down, it will continue to fire at full auto. I have no clue what the problem could be. I searched the forums and found a few threads but nothing helped. I tried changing the shims in the power tube and changing the springs. I also cleaned it real well as I read in a thread the too much oil can cause the sear not to catch. Can anyone help? This is a stock Tac-One (no ULT trigger).

    Thanks,
    Datajack

Does it continue to fire in automatic mode if you hold back the trigger? That sounds very similar to my problem. If I'm quick enough on the trigger then I can get it to fire 2 shots (on pull and release).

      Anyone have any tips?

what set up do you have in there? Is it the ULT or RT on/off?

Is the trigger rod hitting the back of the trigger when the gun is gassed up? Check that first. If its touching, take it apart, heat it up a little to loosen the locktite, and back it off a tad. THere should be a small space between the trigger and trigger rod just big enough where you can fit a matchbook cover in there.

        If thats ok then;

If its the ULT, remove it from the gun, take it apart and remove one shim, put it back and test it. Keep doing that until the trigger gets to your liking.

If its the RT on/off, either lower your input pressure if possible, or see about getting a slightly longer on/off pin.

Update. Okay I took out the carrier and lightly oiled it. Then I took out my old 20oz CO2 tank which still had some CO2 in it. Now I know you're not supposed to use CO2, but my HPA is empty and so are my scuba tanks. Interestingly enough, the gun worked perfectly. This leads me to believe that the problem might be the HPA tank. It's a high pressure preset HPA, but I have a feeling it might be preset too low (750-800). I'm going to go to the local paintball store and test it with a new HPA that is preset a little higher (or an adjustable one) and see if that helps. Hopefully the solution is just to buy a new HPA and I'll be all set.

Please if I'm barking up the wrong tree please let me know!

          Thanks again,
          Datajack

Big Evil, to answer your question, I have a standard out of the box Tac One. No ULT trigger, just your basic X-Valve with a level 10 and the Intellisense Grip.

CO2 is a big NO-NO You could over=pressurize the valve and really screw something up.

Did you check the space between the trigger rod and trigger? 700-800 psi out of your tank should be fine. There shouldnt be too much bounce from that. Does the gun fire by itself when you gas it up? If it does, the trigger rod is touching or is too close to the trigger.

If everything else looks ok, then maybe AGD put a short on/off pin in the on/off. The shorter the pin = the greater the trigger bounce.

Its kinda tough to trouble shoot the gun without seeing it. Get some air, mess with that trigger rod, and let us know.

The gun did fire by itself a couple of times when I gassed it up. I'll check the trigger rod. Where should the trigger rod sit?

Will do. I'm going to a paintball store today to test other tanks, just to be sure. When I get some air I'll test it out again.

Thanks for all of your help!

Okay I purchased a max flow regulator into my 68/3000 tank and increased the pressure to 900 psi. Now everything works fine. I played with the Tac One yesterday and it worked fine the whole day. The only thing I noticed was how much of a gas hog the marker is. I'm not sure if it's something on my side, but it seems I can only get about 500 shots per 1000psi of air. That seems like a crazy ratio. Considering the gun stops working when my tank gets below 900 psi. Scuba fills were avg 2000 psi fills (they were not empty). So I had to refill the tank after every game to be sure I didn't run out of air.

Is this normal gas consumption for the x-valve?

Thanks for all of your help!
