Need help getting my feedneck off my ULE body?

    Hey,
I am trying to get the feed neck off the body but i cant. Some one said try a strap wrench and I just got a strap wrench and the dam thing broke... I then used the rubber and put it around the wrench and went at it... no luck either. I went both ways just incase i was doing it wrong. It looks like when they painted it some of the paint got into the groov. I dont know what to do really. Any other ideas I put as much muscle into that thing as I could and couldnt get it to budge. Any ideas?

It had locktite applied to it and will require that you heat it upa bit to loosen the locktite. You can use a lighter or a small torch. Scary eh?

Put it in a pot of boiling water for about half an hour, then dry it off and immediately try the strap wrench again /w rubber. Thats what I did, and it still took alot of muscle.
I've heard it's bad to use a flame, but you can use your oven instead of boiling water.
You basicly need to melt the loctite. Good Luck.

i agree on the melting the locktite

and flame is a bad idea, unless you want scorch marks on your ULE body

Boiling water would be the best way. Remove the detents before performing this.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

the "paint" you are seeing sounds like lock-tite thread sealer. Heating it should help as long as the permanent type wasn't used. The boiling water is probably your best bet, I'd wrap it in a towel and place the body in a vise before trying the strap wrench.

Worst case, if you don't care about the feedneck, you could always drill 2 holes in order to place a rod through it to...
