Well, most mech guns will chop paint because of trying to shoot too fast. Just learn the trigger (like learning to use an Autococker for the first time) and what you can and cannot do with it. Then upgrade appropriately.
It could have been that the previous owner just didn't have the touch, but you might :)
Or that he wasn't giving the trigger time to reset fully or maybe the trigger rod needed to be adjusted. Could be many things, but I would agree that a lvl10 would help with the chops.Comment

When I bought my mag 2 years ago it had a minimag valve with a LX bolt. It came pre-tuned so I didn't have to fool around with that (Miscue's video on this forum is great at showing how to tune the LX). I put about 3 cases through without a single break. I've seen used x-valves go between $175-$200 in the classified forums. However, if you don't mind the weight you can usually get an used RT valve with ULT for $135 - $150. The RT valve needs to modified to use the ULT (ADG's website recommend some shops and it's possible to buy one used that's already modified), but it has the same capibilities as an x-valve, but has a stainless front end whereas the x-valve is all aluminum. With a single trigger frame it's going to be difficult to max out the ROF for your minimag valve, so you might just want to try getting a LX first and then upgrade to an RT/X-valve down the road after you get a double trigger (a chrome intelliframe maybe
). Hope this helps.
