    Automag Classic double shoots

I have an old classic automag that double shoots no matter how careful I am about not short stroking. I have a second mag that does not have this problem at all, so I KNOW that this is not user error.

The regulator, bolt, and trigger assembly all work fine in my other gun... and I have narrowed the problem down to the valve/regulator. However, I have changed virtually every o-ring and spacer (with the exception of the regulator pin and spring) and nothing works. It's almost as if the steel body of the valve, itself, is the culprit. Is this possible? Has anyone else had this problem? What am I forgetting? Is there anything else that I can do?

Make sure you have a high enough input pressure and are running at the right amount of FPS.

If it cycles more than 1 time per shot that could mean that the sear/bolt lockup is not happening corectly. Check the sear for wear first. The trigger rod could be too long also and you get a bounce off the back of the trigger causing it to fire twice. Let us know...

        Seemingly unfixable Automag Classic

The sear is definitely not worn out. I'm getting the same exact problem using 2 different sears. I also tried shortening the trigger rod to various lengths, but still no improvement. Both sears/trigger rods were each installed and fired in another automag classic without any problems.

This gun just keeps double-shooting and occasionally leaks heavily down the barrel until another shot is fired. BTW, I'm using HPA, the gun is well oiled, and all o-rings have been changed out. I tested the regulator and the bolt in my other gun and they both work fine. And I just recently chronoed it to around 280 fps.

        What's wrong with this thing?

          Sounds like a carrier problem

Try switching valves between markers ...... this will help eliminate rail/ trigger frame problems or confirm them.

I have already tried switching the valve to another gun, but the same problem occurs.

What do you mean by "carrier problem?" What's a carrier?

Carriers are small cylindrical inserts that are put into the powertube. They control when the gas is released behind the bolt after the marker is fired.

I just tried exchanging the carrier as well as the power tube tip... no improvement.

I have also tried exchanging the entire on/off tigger set up with no luck either.

could this be as simple as not having a detent in the barrel?
