Add weight to your gun setup so the perceived (felt) kick will be less.

lol... i just spent hundreds taking off weight... ULE body, RPG ULE shadow rail, dye ultralite barrel...switched to macroline and a unamount...

and im even considering switching to an x-valve to lose more weight....

i guess, being a front player, i have to decide what's more important...

Most of that kick is probably the ball getting fired. I doubt the LVL 10 contributes much.

"Kick" on most modern markers IS the force of the ball leaving the barrel and very little extra (especially with 'mags). That force is caused by the dissipation of somewhere around 14 ft-lb of energy, depending upon velocity. It's very little, but it is somewhat perceptible.

There are a few things you can do, however.

As stated earlier, having a heavier marker will reduce kick. More weight moves less when the same ammount of energy is applied. The downside is that it still moves and it takes just as much to move it back. Adding weight is not the way to solve the problem.

Balance is also important. If the center of gravity (point of balance) is closer to the grip frame (or wherever you hold it), it won't reduce the ammount of energy dissipation, but it will cause the marker to wobble less. Select the right drop (if you use and on-gun tank setup) to give you good, even balance while holding the marker with one hand on the grip frame. This will also help you comfort-wise as well.

Another thing you can do is to dissipate the energy slower than you are now. And unported barrel dissipates all that energy at once. A barrel with a nice, long ported section and fairly large bore at the tip will dissipate that energy over a greater period of time, reducing noise and well as the force created by the energy dissipation of the exiting ball and gasses. Turning down the velocity also works, but I doubt you'd want to do that.

Like you said, everything has a trade-off. A perfectly balanced drop may end up being too long or too short for your taste. An 18" barrel with lots of porting might not be an option for you as a front player.

Fortunately, Emags have very little kick as compared with most markers. The level 10 bolt is very lightweight and it's the only moving part. Almost all the "kick" is derived from the energy dissipated as the ball exits the barrel. Also, being a front player, kick isn't as much an issue because you should only be firing in short bursts anyhow. Anything more than half a dozen shots and all you're doing is waisting paint. That or you're not close enough.
            Before: "You're playing with WHAT?"
After: "Crap! It's that guy with the pump!"

Still baffles me, I think the last .380 Auto I shot kicked more than any of my paint guns.
