The mag is a simple design. That means less moving parts, which means less error. The mag is easy to clean. The mag is tough because it's made of stainless steel. The mag has a good firing rate. You can own this gun to be unique

For the autococker. The autococker is more consistent. The autococker is fairly reliable but not as reliable as a mag. It fires pretty well on co2. You can customize the gun to be unique.

      Mag over Cocker

Hey, the Cocker is a good gun, but they have way to many external moving parts, along with a bunch of little hoses for the numatics. For all intents and purposes the mag only has the bolt that moves. The mag is more compact also.
If you decide to buy a cocker watch out for the p-block. If you hold the gun to tight to you body and fire it the p-block can and most likely will pinch a part of your body, and it hurts like hell! Good luck with your decission.
AND ON THE 8TH DAY GOD CREATED THE AUTOMAG!!

If you're lazy get a mag...
If you want to play with your gun instead of working on it get a mag...
If you like tinkering with things, get a cocker...

No, honestly both guns are good. It's just that mags are really reliable, high quality and you get grade-A-customer service.

          hmm

I own both and love both but the coker is sooo much extra work

so if ur pretty good atfault finding and enjoy tinkering fo for the coker cause u can make it look real pretty if u wanna spend the dosh

but if u want a gun that u dont have to hold ur breath every time u gas up go the mag

i own a mag/RT. they are both great, simple and vertuly no matinance. my brother in law has an kick butt cocker. he nows how to work on it. if you dont care to spend a lot of time working on your gun buy a cocker. if you just want to play paint ball with a great gun buy a mag like i did.
Sorry for the spelling. Im still working on it.

              true story:
i was at my dealers house shooting cocker and the back of the bolt broke and the front part shot out of the gun and hit the wall. it was a very old bolt so that could have been it. my dealer always tell me i have a way with causeing havok with all paintball guns cause ive broken 2 of his(fixable breaks) but ive never hurt my mag before and there have been some close calls but in the end ill hurt my self before my mag breaks.

Some real good replies in this thread.

My thoughts are this ... 'Mags are simplicity at its finest, 'Cockers do have a higher learning curve - not a big deal if you have people around you who know 'Cockers.
Both are very reliable (just don't screw with either if you don't know what you're doing; if it works great for you, don't "fix" it) My personal preference is an Autococker over anything else - that includes my Angel & my E-Mag. ('tis a Free Flow Autococker).

And the meat of my reply:

When people ask this question, I usually reply with a question back:

Are you using CO2, and do not plan on getting HPA (Compressed Air) ? Go with the Autococker.

Do you have, or are you planning to get HPA, go with either gun.

The 'Mag is lighter, smaller (at least the classic), but ALL 'Mags hate CO2. The 'Cocker can run quite well on CO2, but has a few more things that the 'Mag does not - timing *if needed*, hoses blow out on rare occasions, etc ..........

                Blah Blah, I'm Babbling again

Sorry Foo, but I have to disagree. I believe both to be equally consistent. I am on the verge to top my bros gun in consistency. I am looking for a +/- 1 ro 2 versus my +/- 3 fps. I know its pointless since most guns within a +/- 5 fps will shoot the same.

I feel the Mag to be tons more relaible than the Cocker. It only take 60 seconds to completely disassmeble the gun for cleaning or diagnostic. There is only one moving part. And almost nothing to mess around and thus mess up on. Only if you file things down past AGD specs will you run into probs.

Cockers on the other hand can go out of tune rather easily. If you have a LPR in the front, that can be messed with resulting in blown hoses in the front pneumatics. A clogged 3 way or line will cause the cycling to be unreliable. If the 3 way is removed, and its put back on incorrectly, the timing will be off. The valve on the Cocker is a Bit*h to remove, even moreso without the special tool.

The only benefit I can see with the Cocker over the Mag is its great use with CO2. It still fires reliablty and consistently with that nasty gas. While Mags really struggle to perform with CO2.

The main reason why I want to stick with my Mag is the fact that it will ALWAYS work. While my friend with his Cocker always has a problem popping up.

Your choice, even if my answer seems biased, its true.
