I was adjusting the velocity on my new Tac One, attempting to tune the Level 10, when suddenly I heard a snap. The velocity screw froze, and would not adjust either way anymore. I was not using any more pressure on it than I was to normally turn it (it is rather stiff). I think the valve broke instead of stopping at the low end of velocity. No amount of effort will get it to reverse. In addition, there are 2 white lines on the bottom of the X-Valve in 2 sections. I believe these are supposed to line up. They are currently misaligned, as if the entire rear of the valve rotated.
X-Valve broken?

Are you trying to turn the nut while the gun is pressurized? If you are de-gas it and try it then. The lines on the bottom of the valve never stay aligned. They should stay very close to each other (within a mm or so), but firing the gun will throw them off. How far off ars the lines? If you get the velocity nut to free up, take it out and put some anti-seize grease on the threads. Also, Check the z-lock pin on the bottom of the valve, make sure that you didn't shear it off. If you can't get the nut to turn, you might try putting a little heat on it to see if it will break loose.Last edited by rb211; 04-29-2006, 12:26 PM. -
Sad to say, it's frozen solid. Nothing I can do will free it. The Z-Lock pin is intact. As is everything on the exterior. I managed to scuff it a bit despite my best efforts in an attempt to disassemble it. Fact is, though, something internal cracked.Comment

Degass the marker, remove the valve, & seperate the halves. You should be able to loosen the adjusting nut. If not send both halves to AGD....Comment

Unfortunately, I lack these tools. Something snapped inside it when I was adjusting it. I wish I knew what it was. Doesn't really matter, though. I have no means to disassemble it without damaging it.Last edited by PhoenixWolf; 04-30-2006, 06:58 PM.Comment

go down to the hardware store and pick up a strap wrench, and a nice SS 1/8 inch allen wrench. then give it a shot. it shouldn't cost you more than 5 bucks. shipping to AGD will cost more than that.upgrade fund: $145

I give up. This thing is frozen utterly. I just hope they will accept only sending the valve back, rather than the whole marker. Strap wrenches will cost $20, and the velocity screw is frozen so solid that an allen wrench would break before it would turn. At this point, the best thing is probably to send the valve back.Comment
