    68 automag co2 problems

Hello everyone, let me first start off by saying I am an old school paintballer, I'm from the times of Tippman carbines and such so please forgive me if i sound like a noob.

I bought a 68 automag around 5 years ago, it seems every time I have used it the gun has worked great for about a half an hour,, after around a half an hour my c02 tank starts sweating a lot and when I shoot c02 liquid/gas shoots out the barrel and causes paintballs to break. This breaking of paintballs renderd my gun useless and I have been forced to switch to my good old Spider Special Edition (love that thing).

Is my problem that I do not have an expansion chamber?
That I use c02 and not nitrogen?
That my velocity may be to high?

    or somthing else?

Any feedback would be much apperciated, I am going to meet up with some old freinds and play this saturday and i want to whoop em!

    Without knowing how your tank is mounted and all that ... Classic 'Mags hate liquid CO2. You must take precautions against that, such as;

Anti syphon tube in tank, if the tank is mounted horizontally.

    Expansion chamber.

    Remote line.

    Mounting the tank vertically.

Putting in a long air line coiled up a couple of times going to the valve.

how is your tank mounted now?

Your problems are 1 and 2 (2 not so much of a problem, you just have the wrong configuration.) Get an expansion chamber, or run a remote. Honestly, save your money on the previous two and switch to HPA/Nitro. It is well worth it. Then you dont have to worry about configuration, or any other of the hassles with CO2.

I am also from the old school when a base Cocker cost 450.00 and center feeds was'nt even invented yet. If your tank is sweating, velocity is dropping, and your mag is snowing it's because of Co2. The quickest fix is to buy a 68 3000 psi compressed air system from ebay for 35.00. If you have to use Co2 because that's all your field fills the following will help in order 1. use a J tube (anti-syphon tank) parts can be found at your local hardware store plans: http://www.sundragonpps.com 2. don't point the barrel towards the ground 3. get a larger tank 4. remote hose 5. expansion chamber. 1-3 will help the most. Good luck with your setup.....

          Thanks for the responses

My tank is a 20 ounce and it is mouted horizontally, I will try to break out my old remote and try using that again and see if that works.

Hey Nucsucow, I have a 68 classic and i use C02, i use the vertical tank adapter and run macro back to the valve also i use either a 12oz or 9oz tanks. if i use a 20oz tank ill just run a remote 20's are just to heavy to hang off the front end. I have 3 9's and 1 12oz tank and that takes me through a whole day of play...

If your local shop/field can fill HPA tanks, go for it. Don't spend $220 though, you can find them a lot cheaper! Check the forums here, or go to ebay.
