    X-Mag Hiss

    I have had my xmag for two years with no leaks, however recently it began to leak slightly down the barrel. I tried changing carriers to the smallest but still a slight hiss. If i pull and hold the trigger the marker fires fine and about 5 seconds or so later stops leaking until i release the trigger then the hiss is back. Also no change in sound of the hiss if i push on the bolt. I also tried tighting the field strip screw with a wrench, but it makes the leak worse.
    Any help would be apprecieated.

      Take the shims out of the level 10 and see if it goes away...

          Maybe the carrier o-ring is not so good. After a few years it might be shot. Try a different o-ring.

            Carriers

            When i change carriers dosent that also change the O ring? I have had 4 different carriers in the power tube, still leaked. Also the valve is well oiled.

              Did you remove the o-ring from the original carrier that started leaking and put it in the smaller carrier? Or did you go to the smaller carrier with a new o-ring installed in that carrier?

              Reason I ask is yes the smaller the carrier size the more restrictive the o-ring will be, but if the o-ring is worn it might not be enough. Thus a new O-ring.

                Carriers

                I think your talking about the oring inside the carrier, right? If that is the one your talking about then yes i used a new o ring. It is a white o ring that snaps into the non tapered hole side of the carrier. Also by changing carriers it effectivly changes the black oring on the outside of the carrier.

                  Yes I was talking about the inner/white o-ring.

                    Firing

                    Should i be shooting the gun several times after changing carriers?

                      To me if the Xmag fired fine for 2 year without a leak and one day started to leak down the barrel. The white/inner carrier o-ring has worn enough for it to leak. My first move would've been to drop a carrier size using the used o-ring. Reason being it is aready broken in. If it leaked still maybe it got nicked and was shot. So I would then get a new o-ring and find the currect carrier match that didn't leak with my bolt. If I was to work my way down, to find that the carrier with no lines or dots (smallest carrier) didn't work for me and it leaked still. I would wonder if the new carrier white/inner o-ring was shot also due to age of sitting around in my parts kit or maybe the bolt stem is coming out like some did. I'd check to see if the stem pushes in. If it does call AGD for a replacement. If the valve stem doesn't move I'd have some new
                      o-rings shipped in at that point to try my bad o-ring theory. If them o-rings didn't solve the problem with my level10. I'd be lost. I'd have to ponder for a while.

                          Lines = 1 and Dots = .5

                          From what ever carrier your X had in it go down 1 size at a time. Example: if you had 1 line and a dot originally. Try the carrier with just 1 line. Normally one can judge pretty close the bolt to carrier size just by sliding the carrier on to the bolt and feeling the drag/friction of the carrier before you slap it all together. Air it up and if it doesn't leak right away fire it a few times. still no leaks call that part good.
                          Then it is time for shims. Add shims till it leaks and back off one. I know yours you wrote didn't have shims installed, but it might have just been getting by all this time and could be better. Better to know than never had tried...

                            ok i just tried the smallest carrier with a new oring and still the stupid leak. As for the shims i did have two in before the leak began then i removed them all o try and trouble shoot the prob. This thing has me baffeled. I have started from scratch four times and still have that damn leak. Arrrrrg!
