    Another Xvalve problem (help plz)

In preparation for DDay, I gassed up my mag for the first time in about 6 months (last time I played w/ it it worked fine). When I hooked up my tank I hear a slight leak from the bolt area, so I pull the trigger and get a 5shot burst, after 3-4 pulls the gun goes into full auto and I have to remove the tank to stop it. Made sure the field strip screw was fully tightened and tried again but same thing. Tried 0, 1, 2 shims with both the 2groove carrier and the 1groove carried(sorry i dont know the correct names for the carriers). But still getting the same problem, though no leak w/ 2shims and 1groove carrier config. After that my tank was empty so Im stuck till tomarrow.

My current setup is Xvalve Lvl10 ULT running on a 4500psi preset tank w/ 800psi output. Anyone have suggestions?

    Thanks

going into full auto could be caused by your ULT
you may try to remove a shim from the ULT and see if that works better

Be careful on tighting your reg screw it amy warp your body. The trigger frame and thumb screw needs to be even in the torq. 1/4 turn pass being snug is recomennded

Always use the largest carrier that doesn't leak. Test it without any powertube shims installed.

Your full auto problem is most likely ULT related. Remove a ULT shim and try it.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Thanks for the advice. Ive always been careful when tighenting my screw but will try it w/ a spare rail later. I pulled out my ULT it had 3 shims I removed one but still getting the same problem (although the leak stopped yay!). Should I keep removing ULT shims till it works?

Also how do you guys remove carriers? they are a real pain to remove for me.

Edit - just tested my valve with a different rail and practically unused sear, so I dont think worn sear could be it.

is your gun well oiled? and i noticed that with my gun sometimes i need to play around with the field strip a little, either tightening it or loosening it. my theory is if your gun worked last time it should work again.

Only way I can take it out is to remove the back half of the valve, then remove the reg piston assembly. Once that's done, just use a long allen key and slide it through from the back, ie through the reg piston chamber first, then pop the carrier out.

You can invest in a cheap set of dental picks like I use to get the carrier out or you can thread your field strip screw into the carrier and gently pull it out. Disassembling the valve is not necessary.

Field strip screw trick worked nicely, thanks for the tip. Should greatly speed up the tuning process.

Could runaway this bad really be caused by lack of oil? Ive had my mag for 2 years now and never been great about oiling it, but Ive never had this problem. Also Ive been using the Autolube that came in the box so its about 2yrs old as well...could it be bad oil?

I haven't had the same issues you are having, but, mags love oil. Plain and simple. I put 5-6 drops in mine the day before I play. I have heard of the ULT sticking if you don't oil it enough. I don't know if it would cause runaway though. Throw it some oil and see what happens.......

I've never heard of oil going bad ??? Anyone ???

Any good synthetic lub will protect the orings for years. Oil usually doesn't go bad.

Since the sear is fine, your problem is most likely caused in the on-off top area. Replace the orings in your on-off top and inspect the condition of your on-off pin.

i had that same problem so i went back to the level 10 cd an started from the begaining and put the next smallest carrier in tell it seiled with out any shims then i added 2 shims it went fowerd came back half way and stoped it sat there and leaked, i put one more shim in and it did the full auto thing when i held the trigger down. i then messed with the springs i had the marron spring in there so i took it out and put the shortest spring in there and it worked but it was chopping paint like crazy so i took that out and put the largest spring in there and it shoot full auto then i messed with the volocity and cranked it way down tell it would shoot normaly i put a ball in there and it shot and came half way back and leaked so i turned the volocity tell it shot right and put some oil in there and it works fine

Got working! It turns out Langjai147 was right. the runaway issue seems to have just been lack of oil. I put about 8-9 drops of oil in it and cleaned and oiled every part of the Lvl10/ULT then gassed it up and it went full auto for about 10 shots but all of the sudden started shooting perfectly. After that I had a minor leak, but a little tuning of the Lvl10 and ULT fixed it. So far Ive fed 200 balls through it and its working great.

Thanks everyone for the input, I really appreciate it.
