Ok i know this is probably too simple for a whoel thread, but i cannot remember the meaning behind the "stars" on bolts/valves, i found out what it meant a while ago but i dont remember where i saw it.

what is the meaning a of them and what is the differance between 3, 4, 5 etc

The star system on a valve is AGD's warranty program. The number of stars = the number of times you can send it in for a "free" repair on soft parts.

Also, there was a time when all .68Automags and .68Minmags had a lifetime warranty. These valves have no stars at all. Even though many of us are still alive, the 'lifetime" warranty on these valves is no longer honored.

ok that makes perfect sence. are the free repairs still reconized or did those die out liek the lifetime on the 68's. also is there any marking on the valves or is it just paperr work to say how many stars are left?
        thanks

The stars are lazer engraved on the valves above the serial number. If believe that if your valve has a star, the warranty still applies. I think that the x-valves have 2 "invisible" stars, but hopefully somebody else will confirm or correct that statement.

but so if they are lazer engraved, do how do they mark them off? or do they engrave stars as you use them?

            thanks
