Alright I don't know if y'all saw my thread on how these things dont work. I didnt feel like returning it on ebay because it only cost me $12, and its not worth the hassle.
So i busted out 2 wrenches and went to work on this little thing with vengance in mind. I tried to unscrew the knob by in the front by hand until it got stuck. I used one wrench to hold the back and another to turn the knob. After a few threads it just keeps spinning and goes no further. While I was trying to pull the tip out, the knob broke off of the screw part. It was still functional, it just required a screwdriver to turn, and now I could see into the reg. I decided to gas up the reg. I could see the reg start to flow and then immediatley the piston would move up and shut the reg. THIS IS BECAUSE THE SPRING ISN'T HARD ENOUGH.
So I ungassed and ended up forcing the top off the reg via wrenches and screwdriver. From there I stretched the spring and put everything back together. By the way the top is held on by a black rubber o-ring, which i shredded when I was forcing my reg about.
Anyway so its back together now and it works to some extent. It does allow air flow now, but I'm not sure how much and I'm sure its a lot b/c my Fabco 3-way was kinda hard to push on. lol! Oh and in the process I broke the little plastic nipple off, so I forced a brass one in there. It leaks a little bit even w/ teflon tape.
The moral of the story, STILL DON'T BUY THIS REG! I had a load of fun destryoing it though. I think I'll try to post a pic of it later tonight so everyone can get a laugh.
Serioulsy thoguh, if you have access to a heavier spring, you know know what the problem is and can fix your mako w/o breaking it!
