    Automag Barrell Leak

I've read a couple of threads on this but I'm still not sure of my answer.

I have an emag with a level 10 bolt. I had a slight barrel leak and decided to install the rebuild kit I had bought a couple monhts ago, Using the exlploded online diagrams I tok the marker apart and dissasembled the bolt. I replaced all the orings except one that seemd the new one was too big and the old one looked ok. I put it back together and now it has a major leak. I didnt lube anything, all I have is shocker lube. Should I just try some marker oil?

i've never rebuilt the bolt before so Im at a loss as to the part names etc. but everything looked ok.

here is a link to an exploded view of an X-valve which is the same as an E-mag vavle except the material its made out of.

This diagram should help. But initially, with a barrel leak, i would have said you are having level 10 issues.

The solution would be to take off the power tube tip and pull out the carrier. First chekc the white o-ring on the carrier and make sure its in good condition. Then test the carrier on your level 10 bolt by sliding it back and forth on the bolt. The carrier should slide snugly, not too loose, yet not too tight. If it doesn't fit snugly, try a different size carrier. Once you find a good carrier and put it back together, put the shortest level 10 spring on the bolt (the brass colored spring) and test the marker out.

Also, if you don't have any shims inside the powertube, i'd recommend putting 2 in. If i have confused you, or you have any questions, feel free to ask.

As for the leak you have now, it may jsut need oil, other than that, check the diagram and make sure you got everything back in the right place.

I wish I'd had that last night, lol!!!

One problem is the #4 washer in the raplacement kit is too big. I put the original back since it looked ok.

And I dont know how to get to 5-9.

      and never saw 26, 27 and 28.

      But I'll try again!

      Thanks.!

5-9 is where your problem is, haha.

To get there, slide the bolt ott (the part witht he bing spring on it). Then get a snall/meduim monkey wrench or wrench and unscrew the power tube tip (its the brass part that is revealed when you take the bolt off). Then you can use an allen wrench or some other similar tool to nudge the 5-9 stuff out of the power tube. Then follow my previous post about carriers and such.

its ok that you never saw 26-28, those might be a problem if your gun was leaking out the back. so don't owrry about them.

Ok, I started taking the gun apart to fix 5-9, tugged a little too much and parts when everywhere. I go tit back to gether but it still leaks. I fired some oit through and it helped some, but still leaks.

I think the best thing for me to to is box it up on Monday and send it in for service. I think it might need a sear to or be getting near needing it.

hmmm... it's most likely a problem in the power tube; carrier size, o-rings, or shims, but if you don't wanna mess with it, just send it to tuna.

Take out the shims when testing. Use the largest carrier that doesn't leak. If it leaks, use a tighter carrier. If it leaks and has bolt stick (with no shims), then change the carrier oring and start the process again.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
