    Barrel Selection

I've been using a freak system for years now and it's never been "really" accurate. Just wondering what types of barrels my fellow AOers use and what you would reccommend for a reliable and accurate barrel system. - Thanks!

I love my kaner system. I have used both the old and new, and they both work great!

          Try buying better paint
accuracy is determined by paint to barrel match. Here is what Tom said

I have found that I pay the exact same.
I can buy 2 cases of cheap paint, and have 30-40% accuracy,
I can buy 1 case of decent-good paint and have 80% accuracy.

your statistics are flawed. My friend uses monster balls (heh) and somehow manages to hit me in the goggles almost every time.

But then again that parocarbine is a pretty sweet gun.

That just shows that equipment doesnt make the player.

I'm a big fan of J&J Edge kits. You can find them at a low price and they are so well made.

I use a CCM Carbon Graphite kit, and I love it. Its not insanely more accurate than the Freak I will admit, but it is lighter and cleans alot better through breaks. Also...its looks cooler :P

i have: a ccm CF kit; dye ul and a dye 1 piece al; pipe kit; a hammer head barrel with a 686 back; and a kaner

i stoped using the kaner pretty much when i got it because it wasnt a full kit, it was an ok barrel.

i like the pipe kit but since it is tapered it can be hard to aim with and some times isnt perfect but it is a nice system.

the ccm kit is nice but not being able to use swabs and only having a small controll bore kind of turn me off of it, it shoots streight and quiet but isnt as consistant becasue of the short bore. the

the hammer head i like better than the ccm kit as a small back kit mostly becasue i can use swabs, i think the rifeling is able to stabilize the ball better, when u shoot bad dimpled paint in it the balls also seem to veer to the same direction as apposed to all over like a smooth bore barrel allows.

i have a j&j but it is for my old spyder so i dont use it much any more, it was a nice barrel though, cleaned easily and shot streight and quiet

dye barrels are my favorite primarly the 1 piece al barrel i have.

i suggest dye barrels over all so far.

I usually use either Evil or Combat 68 for paint. I have tried Marbelizer too, but my accuracy is about the same with all types of paint. Is there a different type of paint I should be trying? Might I possibly have a different problem?

I always use a slightly larger bore than the paint I am using. That gives me a little more tolerance for variances in paint size. A good consistent paint is the best bet. That way you can dial down the size of your insert to match the paint for optimum results. Basically, a barrel is just a tube that guides a round ball towards its target. There really isn't much difference between different barrels.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.
