Convert to HPA: Level 7 (68 Automag)

Hello all. I'd like to convert my old school Level 7 Automag from CO2 to HPA, and have been told I can just plug & play? Is this right? Can I just buy an HPA tank and start playing?

Any suggestions on what HPA tank/remote system to buy?

    All comments welcome!

    Thanks,

    Bojo

you should be able to just switch with no problems. i would go with a crossfire 68/4500 tank and i dont use a remote so someone else can help you with that. the only thing you might have to do is change out some orings and stuff, sometimes switching from co2 to hpa you need to change the orings.

depending on how old your mag is you may have to upgrade the regulator piston and possibly the spring pack. i had to get both

        this is from http://www.airgun.com/faq.shtml#nitrogen

I'm going to start using Nitrogen with my AUTOMAG instead of CO2. Do I need to change anything on my AUTOMAG?
You might need to purchase a new Regulator Piston Assembly and, if your Automag has a serial number lower than 28500, you might also need to purchase a new Spring Pack. Call our Tech Support department at (847) 520-7225 if you'd like more information about this.

compressed air is the way 2-go over Co2 anyday. Co2 velocity can change from high 2-low in & out of the sun on a hot day. compressed air is consistent all around. remotes take alot of weight off the gun 4 a more compact 1-handed play marker. 4+1 packs are the way 2-go & spend the extra dollars on a good remote system. you wont regrate it......

Thanks alot for the input, since my serial number is in the 16K's I'll call Airgun tomorrow. Sounds like an easy conversion if it is just a Reg Piston and Spring pack.

Thanks for the reply. I have lots of trouble with velocity drop off, so I'm definately going to HPA.

I use a CO2 remote today with expansion chamber. When I buy my HPA Tank, do I need an expansion chamber? Or just a simple hose? Please explain more on what you recommend on the remote system (what's a 4+1 pack?), what it should consist of, etc.

              Thanks again.

                HAP set-up ......

replacement of O-rings are as important as an oil change 2-a car after so many miles or thousands of rounds have been spent through it . liquid Co2 causes O-rings 2-crack & become brittel . have an O-ring kit installed at your local paintball shop or read directions carfully & do your self . a bottomline allows the tank 2-screw in at the bottom of the grip frame on the gun which can be heavy . the coil remote comes with a quick-disconect nipple adapter which screws in 2-the bottom line adapter on the guns grip frame . now hook up the other end 2-the compressed air tank & your ready 2-wear the tank on your back side or 4+1 pack which means 4-100rd. loaders + 1 which holds your HPA tank . the 4+1 allows you 2-carry 400rds. of back up paint & a tank on your back . your gun will be alot lighter 4-sure . after the O-ring change , your gun should have no problem shooting off compressed air 4-now on ......

As stated previously an Oring change about all you need. As far a compressed air goes you want a tank with a high pressure output (850 pounds) which is about the same pressure C02 is at 70 degrees ambient temp. Centerflag makes a good reg, Ive heard good things about Guerilla Air and I use a nitroduck (some people dont like nitro duck but ive never had a problem with mine). If you are running remote thats all you need if you want an on gun system you will need a cradle and on/off asa to mound the tank to the marker. Then you need a soft pillow for your bum for all the kicking yourself your going to be doing for not going HPA sooner ;p
