    emag chuffing?

Okay a quick question... I have a friend with an emag with the 1.7 mod. He has extremely fast fingers, works in a paint shop and practices on the spraying guns all day and can reach 17bps pretty easy in training mode when marker isn't aired up and have even seen it at 24? I wish my limit is about 12 on a good day. Anyways back to the question, he has been having problems with his emag chuffing when he tries to rapid fire it. It will fire a bit then do the chuff thing fire a bit more then chuff.... I don't have a problem and I think its because I can't fire as fast. What do you think could be wrong, perhaps not a fast enough recharge on the tank? Maybe needs a higher pressured tank? what do you guys think? I think he has and ACI bulldog if that helps

The Xmod takes a bit of mechanical and electrical tweeking to get the gun to perform. The AGD software is a lot more 'forgiving'.

First, try another tank, preferably an adjustable. Crank the input up to 900-1000psi.

If it is still giving you troubles, increase the FIX until it doesnt. Also do the compass test on the noid to make sure the polarity is correct.

Make sure the emag is using a fresh bolt spring. As the bolt spring wears, it takes longer to reset the bolt. A longer time to reset increases cycle time and could impact the ability of the gun to be fully ready for the next shot. Couple this with a bottle with a slow or moderate recharge rate and chuffs could happen.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

thanks alot for the replies guys, I will give him one of my crossfire tanks and see if that works if not I will try out my flatline on it. Stay tuned. Also i'm not sure what all the electronic things mean... fix, dwell, etc, can anybody enlighten me? I know there are more then just those two but don't know the names.

Sorry to interrupt/hijack a thread but I have the same problem occasionally.
I'm running 3.2 and Tuna just recently rebuilt the reg on my flatline tank (works great, thanks again!). Running the tank at ~875psi output just to where the rapid/single shot velocities are even.

The 3.2 is semi- only and I usually have it set at around 13 BPS because I only have an EGG II for a loader right now. Shot buffer is in the mid 20's somewhere (miliseconds) IIRC.

It won't chuff if I stick to one finger but as soon as I start walking on it, the board will max out and the 7th or 8th shot in the string always chuffs. Is this an airflow issue or is there another cause? I know my loader is wussy but it's not the level 10 going off. It's bonafide chuffing.

The tank has one foot of macroline between it and the valve. Perhaps macro just has too much resistance to flow? I've had the macro on it for a while, though, and it's only the past few months I've had chuffing. Could it be worn? Swap out the old line for a length of new stuff?

Thanks for any help and I hope Phizz doesn't mind me jumping on his thread like this.

Replace the bolt spring. This is one area that is continually overlooked. The bolt spring should be replaced on a regular basis as a part of regular maintenance. Tournament players used to replace the bolt spring before every tournament.
