    MICROMAG problems & questions

    Hi folks...

I have a Pro-Team MICROMAG that I've just put back into use. Unfortunately, it's giving me some trouble.

First off, I'm getting erratic ball-feeding and ball breaks at or near the swing-arm detente. From what I can diagnose, it seems that the spring(?) for the swing-arm detente is no longer functioning and lets balls push it out of position. I've tried removing the screw/pin(?) at the pivot point but no luck. I've tried using a hex tool to no avail. Do I just punch it out?

Second, I tried using my '99 OEM autococker barrel and it wouldn't screw in all the way. I then used a CP barrel with 'cocker threads and that screwed in without incident. Any ideas on why an original, OEM autocker barrel won't work while a third party part would?

Finally, I read the Maintenance & Troubleshooting Guide (downloadable on Pro-Team's website and it mentions something called the STRAIGHT FEED ADAPTER which is described as "a bolt-on modification that replaces the powerfeed for down-the-barrel sighting." Does anyone have one? How does perform? And does Pro-Team still stock this item?

Thanks to all in advance for any info!

The ball detent has a pin installed in it. A pin punch is needed for removal.

All barrels will not line up to body, so it varries from MFG toMFG.

The powerfeed is the best feed for regular agatated hoppers. A Halo is the best option for positive feed.

      Threads

You also might check to see if there is any coating on the treads. On some of the early removable barrel Micromags the bodies were not powdercoated or anodized correctly. The coating got on the already tight cocker threads and made some barrels not fit at all. At that time Pro-Team would re-thread the body for free if you sent it in to them, but that was back in the 90s. Note that this only applies to the early powerfeed bodies.
As far as the detente goes, you could also wrap a rubber band around the gun for a quick fix.
