    Sticking sear on a Xmag

Ok, i have aquired a almost brand new xmag from a player that had this thing for quite a while, but used it also a while ago. According to him, it has been in storage for 2 years now, and seeing the state of the gun, this must be true. The total shots counter was at 256 when i got it, and the anno is in very good condition. (even got the original box with it, and it has 3.2 software)

A few days ago i gassed it up to see if it was working correctly, and it didn't fire in manual mode. In e-mode the only thing it did was chuffing. Today i replaced the carrier o-ring, on/off o-rings and tinkered around abit with the sear length, since it was a bit too short (no reactivity at 900 psi while in manual or hybrid mode) I adjusted it to a point where it doesn't hit the trigger in e-mode, but the trigger won't go back all the way like my other xmag that works correctly, and there is still no reactivity in manual mode. (In hybrid it reacts)

So far i can fire it in e-mode, (and still chuffs regulary) but in manual it seems to lack just a tiny bit of sear length to fire. I also switched the emag valve in my other xmag, and it will only fire the bolt for the first time to do nothing after that in manual mode. In e-mode it will fire correctly.

Also, if i want to remove the valve i have to:
a: turn the gun in e-mode and pull the trigger, or:
b: with the left grip off, pull down the solenoid plunger to eject the valve.
A light tap on the back of the valve like i do sometimes with my other xmag has no effect.

The cut off spring was installed onto the bolt, i replaced it with the normal spring. Not sure if this affects anything, but i thought i should mention it.

My thoughts are the sear is not broken in yet, (if it needs to be broken in that is) or something else is wrong and i overlooked it. I really could use some help from the experts on AO.

    Thanks for looking!

Looks like you have 2 problems. First make sure the trigger rod and plunger lengths are correct and not loose. Second for the chuffing try the next loosest carrier. If you added more than 2 L10 shims it is maybe necessary to use the next loosest carrier to compensate for the 3rd shim thickness. Try oiling the on/off and make sure it moves freely. Also see if the detents move freely or that they're screwed in to far.....

I checked the rod lengths, and the sear rod (for the mech/rt thing) was a bit too short. I've corrected it a bit following the xmod manual. I only have 2 L10 shims installed, have to try another carrier in the morning. (when im sober again) on/off has been oiled and even all the o-rings replaced. Detents i'll have a look at, but i have the same problem without the breech installed.

I'll test the xvalve in my other marker tomorrow, if it works ok it must be the sear.

Thanks for helping, how is that green xmag treating ya?

The green Euros working fine, it has a PredII board in it and it currently setup for warp left. LMK how it turns out....

Great! Also have my black STD setup for warp left.

Well, i tried the xvalve in my STD xmag, and whattayaknow... It works perfectly! So that rules out the xvalve being the problem. Also i noticed that the magnet for activating the hall sensor is set closer to the sensor compared to my other mag. Turning it a bit more into the trigger will actually produce enough way to fire mechanically, but the sensor doesnt register any pulls this way.

I've shot the xvalve for several dozen times today, and did'nt notice any chufffing. So i hope i fixed that problem with replacing the o-rings and lubing. The gun will now fire relyably in e-mode, but still lacks like 0.01" of trigger travel to fire in mechanical mode. I cannot make the sear rod any longer or it will bounce onto the trigger in e-mode. Oh well, i'll look into that as soon as i get my tunablade trigger.

          Thanks for helping out Flyingpoontang!

Adjust the trigger rod out just a bit more so that it will operate in manual mode. then adjust your trigger stop so that the back of the trigger doesn't hit the rod in electronic mode. Then adjust the trigger magnet to properly fire the gun in electronic mode. These will give you all modes of operation.

I suspect your bolt spring change had the biggest effect on your chuffing. An old or worn bolt spring can have major chuffing effects.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Thanks Athomas, i'll adjust it properly when i receive my new trigger. Also a funny thing is, i'm now using the spring that was installed when i got it, so maybe it was a o-ring or lack of lubing that caused the problem. (or both) Maybe the oil in the marker got dried up a bit while it was in storage... Before i got it, it has'nt been used for over 2 years by the previous owner. For now i am glad it works properly in e-mode, and i'll tinker around with the trigger and rods when i get the tunablade.

Also i will have to test the marker with some paint trough it, but i don't have a chrono here and my scuba tank is almost out of air... Ow well, all in due time. :)

A good cleaning and lubrication does wonders with a mag and fixes many problems.
