Braided line vs. macroline

Could someone explain the performance differences between braided line and macroline? Is it just preference, looks, maintainance, or does one perform better.

I have a Classic Automag with a Retro valve and a gas through grip. Any info would be appreciated. I currently have a braided line, but others have a macroline and I didn't know if there is a noticeable difference.

Macroline vs. Stainless Braid

Stainless Braid is the Gold Standard of lines, highest flow rate, best durability. However, it is stiff, hard to work with in short runs and most of us can't make our own lengths to experiment. If it breaks on the field, you have to buy a new, prefit piece which may/may not be the length you need or want. In my case, nobody within 70 miles stocks it and I have to web order or go out of town. One other advantage is that you can put quick disconnects on it to get your valve, etc., out to clean.

Macroline, especially the type that I use, which you can get from Tunaman, is easy to cut to the proper length, flows very close to stainless braided, (it has the same inside diameter), and is just very easy to work with. If you have a rupture at the field, you can cut a replacement and be back playing in just a couple minutes for a fraction of the cost of Stainless Braid. The fittings that Tunaman sells are easy to work with, and you can disconnect several times without having to replace the hose before the end wears enough to need replacing. I usually cut it about 1/8" longer than I need and then trim that amount the first time I need to cut the worn end.

I have made the switch on both my guns for the above reasons. I keep my old Stainless out of habit, but doubt I will go back.

I use braided because it wont leak like macro and is more durable but I have macro for back up and emergency and to help others on occasion
