Classic 5 Automag guy w/ questions.

Hello all. I'm just getting back into the sport of paintball after not playing for about 10 years. Clearly the marker technology has come a long way since then and I seem to be "behind in the times." My last marker when I got out of the sport was a Classic Automag w/ the Level 5 valve (which I no longer own). I posted some threads at warpig.com, but thought I'd get some more responses on this site.

    Here's the Warpig thread.

Due to the fact that the AGD site isn't very clear I have a few questions. I posted them in them in the Warpig thread, but I'll list them here.

    1) Is the Hyperframe an aftermarket electronic trigger/grip that replaces the original AGD mechanical system?
    2) Is the RT-PRO electro pneumatic or is it strictly mechanical?
    3) Is Centerflag the manufacturer of the Hyperframe and/or the Booyah?
    5) If the RT-PRO is not electronic, are there any aftermarket alternatives to convert it to electronic?
    6) Is it possible and would it be considered an upgrade to install the electronics of an E-Mag on to a RT-PRO?
    7) Other than Ebay, is it possible to still buy E-Mags or X-Mags anywhere? I like the fact that the E-Mag is electronic, but also has a mechanical override; does the X-Mag also have this feature?

    Thank you,
    Rich

I bet that you could have gotten any one of the guns you mentioned in that post by trading that lvl5 for them. As long as the buyer was desperate enough. Missed your chance!
Im not trying to be mean, just telling you.

      1) yes
      2) mechanical
      3) manufacturer of the hyperframe only
      4) hyperframe or Emag lowers will make the RT pro electronic
      5) to install Emag internals you would need to buy Emag lowers
      6) a. yes, sometimes you can buy them here b. both Emags and Xmags can be operated mechanically

        3) Is Centerflag the manufacturer of the Hyperframe and/or the Booyah? Yes to hyperframe, no to boohyaah. Neither are in production anymore
        5) If the RT-PRO is not electronic, are there any aftermarket alternatives to convert it to electronic? Emag lowers, boohyaah, hyperframe, homemade stuff
        6) Is it possible and would it be considered an upgrade to install the electronics of an E-Mag on to a RT-PRO? Yes you just need to buy "emag lowers" which makes your gun an emag
        7) Other than Ebay, is it possible to still buy E-Mags or X-Mags anywhere? I like the fact that the E-Mag is electronic, but also has a mechanical override; does the X-Mag also have this feature? Yes, and Yes. Here/AO is great for picking up used emags/xmags. Xmags are no longer made.

        Thank you,

            Don Miguel
            Thanks for the tip.

            surfbum and MANN
Thanks for the responses guys... fast too!!!

Ok so if I buy a RT-PRO what exactly would I need to buy to convert it to an E-Mag. By "lowers" do you simply mean the grip itself w/ the electronics housed in the grip? If I bought a Hyperframe somewhere (like Ebay) is that all I would need?

My plan is to buy a new RT-PRO w/ Intelliframe and install a warp and then eventually convert it to a E-Mag. Or, buy a new RT-PRO w/ the standard grip and get E-Mag lowers immediately so I don't waste $75 on the Intelliframe. Opinions?

It seems that AGD is kind of being pushed out of the main scene by newer young guns. Back in the day I played my Level 5 Automag for about 3 years and it was very good to me so I feel I should be loyal to AGD. BUT, please be honest. If you were me and starting from scratch getting back into the sport... would you maybe choose something electro-pneumatic like the Smart-Parts Shocker over the Autmag (any)?

I've been doing a lot of reading online over the past few weeks and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I plan on mainly playing rec ball, but I wouldn't count out the possibility of getting into tournaments.

Thanks again. Oh and Don Miguel, if you would have saved all your baseball cards from when you were little you'd be a rich man.

Ignore Don Miguel. He acts like he knows what he's talking about, but really has no idea. Seriously. Actually, I can only remember two useful and entirely correct posts he's ever made. There may be a few more, but then, who knows...

And he's still a kid, so I'm guessing his baseball cards aren't worth much.

IMO you would save more money or waste less money by just buying a used emag. One good thing about it is that they really dont loose their value. Most emags still go for 4-6 hundred range depending on accessories.

Obviously everyone here is gonna be a little byis to mags, but IMO they are second to none. I play primarily rec/woods ball, but am tring to get into tourneys and I have found that my emag works great for it. I am able to switch from mech to e with little to no effort. Depending who I am playing with depends on what I use. Xmod(a programmer for emags) will allow you to keep up with any other gun on the market. It has tons of firing mode.

NOOO!! I completely missed this part or I would've included it in my last post. Do not get a Shocker! Yeah they're light, fast, moderately upgradable, cheap, and great shooters, but SP customer service SUCKS! I have an '03 Shocker that's been in the shop for over 6 months. Why? SP doesn't care! That's why!

But really, it is a great little gun, but after my experience with thier customer service department, I can't really recommend them any more.

...Unless you're getting a shoebox Shocker. Those things will always be great. I love those guns!

The problem is that I rarely see them on ebay.

Something is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, and the vast majority will not pay much for a Lvl 5 Automag. I'm not even sure how much I'd pay for one. But I doubt he could've gotten an EMag in trade for one. Seriously. Unless he added something, or unless the trader is an avid collector, it just wouldn't happen.

And really, look at your post count. Now look and see how many useful posts you've made. The ratio in inproportionate. That's why you piss so many people off. You post stupid little things about stuff you don't know much (if anything) about.

I'm not crazy about them either, but they do have their perks. That's what's nice about the E/X-Mags is that if the electronics fail you can still shoot them as a mechanical gun with the flip of a switch.

I would trade an emag for a lvl5 easily if the lvl5 was in good condition, Im one of those people who like old school paintball stuff. And I bet thier are people out there who would trade a higher amount for it too.
