    slide check/disconnect

why are so many mags set up with a slide check or quick disconnect from the vert adapter to the valve?

I do it because I dont want to have to unscrew my bottle/asa knob. It is easy to slide the valve out.

It allows you to easily remove the valve from the body if you need to clean or inspect it. Plus it allows easy degassing of the valve.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

its not a slide check btw, its a quick disconnect. it's good for draining air tanks (i don't store mine pressureized for long periods of time).

No it is called a slide check. It is similar to a quick connect, however you can degas your valve with it. A quick connect shouldnt be disconnected while it is gassed up.

              Looks perty

I think it gives a mag the cleanest look. This way you can run the hose straight from the vert asa to the valve and be able to slide out the valve without unscrewing the hose. Without a quick disconnect you would have to have an awkward extra 3 or 4 inches sticking out so you can slide the valve out.
