    Micro Emag electronic trouble

Last week i traded for a gold microemag. its pretty awesome. when it turns on it says "beware of the man with the golden gun"

It has been flashed with 4.01 by the way..

so the problem is, i can turn the gun on, and the noid does click, but it is not enough to push the valve pin in and shoot the gun. the valve is fine, and has a regular RT on/off, not a ULT. if i put my finger and push the noid, it fires the gun. the gun is not tuned in manual mode either. It is also going full auto not semi, and i dont know how to stop it. (i can just hold the trigger down and hear the noid weakly clicking at 27 :) )

So i talked with a guy at teh local proshop (handle, sleepingbeauty) and he thinks that it is either the battery or the noid. I am betting that it is the battery because the noid is still clicking, and cant think of anything that would just make it weak. But the battery is getting drained very fast, almost like its not charging. so could it be the battery just not holding the charge? or is it something else?

i really want to be able to use it next weekend... so i have 6 days!

Check the board screw mounting hole is clean an showing a little aluminum around the mounting face, all electrical connectors are solid/clean, & make shure the rear safety is disengaged.

Also have you checked to see if you have the correct on/off pin installed? Micro Emags pin is a touch shorter than the Emags. It is .675.

        Of course it works-its AGD

That is a known problem on the 4.01 firmware version. Try reversing the wires on the solenoid.

As for not firing, it could be a weak battery. Check all your electrical connections first. If it is an original battery, then it is probably past its expected life expectancy.

flyingpoontang- no rear saftey () everything is in pretty good shape, im going to find a schematic for the board and check that out

a-tach-one- the correct on/off pin is in..

athomas- reversting the wires on the solenoid? im not sure i want to do that... what would that do? how long is the battery life expectancy?

keep ideas coming... im going to try to find someone with another battery and see if its the problem.

The solenoid itself can activate the HES if the polarity is wrong. It can cause full auto in certain versions of the firmware because the solenoid activation is recorded as a trigger pull and stored to be used in the next cycle. This keeps happening every cycle, so the result is full auto. Reversing the wires on the solenoid reverses the polarity of the magnetic field created when the solenoid is energised. Therefore the HES no longer responds to the solenoid magnetic field.

As for the battery. They are usually rated based on charge cycles, usually less than 1000 for most batteries. That number could be much less depending on the usage patterns. If the battery was stored for a long period of time while dead, it could have a negative effect on its ability to hold a charge. If you want to take the time to charge and discharge your battery in complete cycles, it can help restore some of its capacity. It'll take a few complete cycles to do it and you need to monitor the voltage while doing it. Completely charge the battery. Then apply a load (100W light bulb) and let it discharge. It would take about 6 hours for good battery, less for a worn one. This is where you need to monitor the voltage of the battery. When it reaches 12.6v remove the load and completely recharge it. Don't let the load stay on past the 12.6v value if you can help it. Do this a half dozen times and you will restore a lot of the capacity. I was lucky, I knew someone who had a battery conditioner (does the charge and discharge cycles automatically). He brought my dead battery back to about 80% capacity from a dead battery that wouldn't operate the emag for more than 100 shots.
