Basiclaly there has to be enough body to hold the barrel, the valve, and guide the bolt and spring. You can swiss cheese the mag body, it doenst hold any air or pressure.

If you cut into the breech area won't that mess with the gas expansion when you fire the marker?Originally posted by StygShoreBasiclaly there has to be enough body to hold the barrel, the valve, and guide the bolt and spring. You can swiss cheese the mag body, it doenst hold any air or pressure.

the whole part infront of the threads can go, you can cut holes up in the part that covers between the mate up of the valve and where the back of the bolt sits)
there is still a decent amount of metal that can go on a ule body but you might get into the whole strength issue

No.
Unless you want to have moving parts exposed, a weakened body, and potentially mess up pressure in the chamber like the guy above me said.Comment

From the valve to the feedneck...sorta. Windows as seen in that pic would be fine up to the point where the valve body stops is fine,Originally posted by FARMER00can windows be milled all the way from the vavle to the feedneck or is that a bad idea?Comment

are we talking about an old body or the ULE's? If you go with the older body w/ a twist lock barrel you can get rid of almost all of it. Need to have a spot for the bolt spring to touch, enough to hold the feed neck on and a little bit to keep the barrel from moving off the locking pin. Oh and you gotta hold the sear pin in and a little more to keep the valve lined up but I don't think the valve is going anywhere anyway.Comment
