it may have been moisture in the air, I was under the impression that electronics worked BETTER in the cold, so long as the moving parts haven't frozen solid...was it very wet outside? do you have any sort of intella-type hookup to your warp and/or revvy?

I think i know what your problem is.
I don't own an E-mag but I do have batteries at home. Everyone knows that if you keep something cool, it will slow the chemical reactions; same reason you keep camera film in the fridge to preserver it longer. Batteries use chemical reactions to produce electricity.
Your battery was getting cold, and not outputting enough voltage. that's what I think it is, at least.
Try keepin' your bare hands on it, or stick it in your armpits.

E-Mags tend to not like cold, moist days. That's just something you have to deal with. Use the manual mode when the electronics don't want to work.

The solution is simple as you pointed out, but im also gona explore the posiability of putting a 'cap' in line with the battery to help reduce/hide the effect of pour current from the battery when in low temperatures.Drexel University Dragons

I had no problem playing in the cold... I mean really cold! The lake in the parking lot of coram was frozen solid and I was playing in a blizzard.
