    90 degree elbow modification

    Guys,

I am trying to make my classic automag a little more CO2 friendly. I have installed an xcore expansion chamber. I have also installed a drop forward (for looks and balance).

    [IMG] [/IMG]

    Here is my problem-

The bottom of the expansion chamber actually touches the drop forward. The expansion chamber has its input on the bottom.

So I don't have enough room to install a 90 degree elbow in between the expansion chamber and the drop forward.

    My question is-

Can I grind down the 90 degree elbow? If so, how much?

Any pictures, diagrams would be very helpful.

sounds like you need a shorter drop or shorter expansion chamber. Sorry... but unless you configure differently, Your SOL.

You can't grind elobow nearly at all and still be safe. They rely on what little material is there for strength against 1000psi+

try a palmers stab, remote line, or ACI Sub-Zero mini Chamber.

(or get HPA or a smaller drop)

i would do one of 2 things.
1-bend the drop forward down a little so that it clears.
2-put a space between the drop and the trigger frame.you can use oring, nuts or washers.

        Definetly the problem

I want to make what I have work because it was all purchased online. I would really kick myself if I had to pay shipping 3x for 1 item.

This sounds like the quickest, easiest, and cheapest solution for now.

You can also use Spyder grip frame adapters from NW. There is one kind that has standard holes through it so all you would need to do is get longer screws so it will go through the drop, through the adapter, and into your grip frame. And yes, I have tried this and it works great. I believe it will push the drop down about 1/2".

NW went out of business a couple of years ago...

I'd say try an ASA extension from: http://www.dbnpaintball.com/reg-acc.htm

it'll drop your chamber down. i have one on my blazer because i hate having the input hose offcenter

I assume the item you are directing me to in your link is the asa extension.

This would lower my expansion chamber. I am looking to lower my drop forward. These two items currently touch which does not allow me room to install a 90 degree elbow for my air hose.

But- the 15 degree extension below the asa extension in your link would help move the expansion chamber so that it isn't as close to the drop forward.

show us a picture of this setup... Its hard to picture what exactly is happening here...

You might just want to find a different drop.... they aren't all that expensive

any spyder bottom line adaptor will work, you may just have to drill it out a bit to get rid of the threads.

If you can track one down the NW (out of business as previously stated) quick disconnect bottom lines would work as well.

All I can find is the NW Quick Disconnect Rail. Is that what you are talking about?

Try drilling and tapping the expansion chamber in the side, and plug the bottom. :)

Or do the same to the vertical adapter on your mag. (Still plug the bottom of the chamber.)

Or have you tried a straight macro fitting out of the chamber with a short piece to a 90 out of the drop. Just slide the macro line into place then attach the drop to the bottom of your grip.

Easiest thing is to just get a shorter drop.

You could make some sort of block that goes between the drop and frame. You'd just need to find a hunk of aluminum and drill the two mounting holes in it. Home depot has a limited aluminum section FYI.

I am using stainless steel line. I will give it a shot though.

i don't know if it will help, but i have a plastic adapter block from a folding stock i don't have anymore that you can have. it's only 1/4 inch thick, but might just give you enough clearance. It also has multiple holes, I think it was designed to allow mounting to either regular or Spyder holes as well as multiple positions.
