Are the crown points ambidextrous or not? I.e., can a given one work with both hopper left and right or do I have to call and specify?

The come ready to go for a power feed hopper left. If you have a power feed hopper right you need to remove the last 1/8 - 1/16 inch of metal in the slot at the base of the barrel. It isn't hard with a dremel. Hope that helps.
