    Removing the barrel lock detent

    Hey everyone,

I need to switch my barrel lock detent to a new rail I got, but I can't get it out of the old rail.

Are these loctited in? How would I remove it?

    Thanks, Jason

If I remember correctly, they simply press out of the rail. Correct me if I'm wrong AO.

From which direction, out the top or bottom? I even put it in a vise and couldn't get it to budge.

hammer it out the top, the top of it has a lip that makes it wider than the bottom

Cool, I'll try a hammer. I thought of that last night but was hesitant to do it for fear the metal was too soft.

          Thanks for the suggestions guys!!

On one of my rails, the barrel lock was only sightly snug, I was able to push it out by hand. But I am sure that is too loose. I would recommend using a hammer also. Be sure to cover it with a cloth so you don't mess up the rail.

Got it out last night with the hammer. Covered it with one of those rubber grip jar openers to give it some bite rather than a cloth so I wouldn't hit and slide off.

I got it into my new rail with no issues.

Thanks guys for the support. Fellow AOers rock
