Nitro Duck, X-Stream adjustable reg.......shim up the pressure?

I have a Nitro Duck X-stream adjustable reg. for my X-valve. The trigger action is good, but I think that if I was able to get a bit more pressure out of the tank reg it could be better.

The gauge says that the output is 800psi

Could I add shims under the spring to increase the max. output to something more like 900-1000?

If this is what you have: http://www.sakworldpaintball.com/newxstreamtu.html

then you need the special tool to adjust the shiney collar just above the nipple fill cover. 200-900 psi.

      Good Luck

The general consensus is that X-Stream regulators will reach anywhere from 750-900, no more. They are "supposed" to...and their tech service says they will...but they won't. I have one, bought the little special tool...looks like I'll just suffer with it until I can afford a flatline to replace it with.

Yes, I have the adjustable regulator sited by Mechanic.

While I do not have a spanner wrench, I do have a 10" crecent wrench, and that works too.

I realize that the 800psi this falls in the normal operating parameters, but I would like a pressure more suitable for Mags. Has anyone ever "fixed" this problem?

This may be an over sight, but I thought it's worth mentioning. When you adjust the tank, you have to release some of the pressure via firing the gun. Then the new pressure you adjusted it too will present itself. I always adjust my pressure with the tank on the gun and take about 3-5 dry fire shots.

Anything else and I would contact Nitro Duck. Their service is pretty descent.

Good thought, but my observations are differently after quiet a few shots. I am not sure how helpful they are going to be to help me increase the upper limit of the pressure adjustment to 1100 psi.

What the heck...I just noticed you live in Cities. I am in Brooklyn Park.

i am not sure if this would work on this reg or not. but if you turn the adjuster all the way one way and then all the way the other you may realign everything. I know this is hack talk but it's worth trying and free.

also if you want more response, get one of those sear mods from Luke, I think.

Farmland, yes, I've heard of them and played with many of the members.

              I'm in Edina.

No. But many have been disappointed. Nitro Duck is a great air tank company and the X-Stream looks like a great deal and a quality reg...and I'm sure it is for low-medium pressure set-ups...but the X-Stream reg simply will never reach 1100psi...it never has. I'd be happy if I could get mine to 900...but I can't. I bought the wrench, sent it into Nitro Duck, the whole 9 yards...it's just a bum product. You're better off selling it or trading someone for a preset until you can afford a maxflo, dynaflow, or flatline. I've heard those 3 regs have no problem reaching very high pressures.

I had the same issue with my Xstream. After talking to Nitroduck, they basically told me that if it got to 800 or so that should "be sufficient".
They do not guarantee that it will get to 900. There is no way to shim it for higher pressure due to the design.
                  I bought a Maxflo.
Still use the Xstream on my Emag. It is a good regulator and doesn't shoot down. It just doesn't put out any more than about 750-800 psi. I checked mine using a set of calibrated Ashcroft guages that we have at the fire department for calibrating the compressor.

Thanks for a good discussion all. It looks like I need to move toward getting a new tank. Maybe next year.
