Help with bolt...chuffing?

I think that's the problem. When I shoot my gun quickly, the bolt doesn't go foward all the way, and it doesn't go all the way back either. It makes the chuff noise and then sits part way in the feedneck.

Do I need to oil the spring or inside the bolt or something? Please help!

(ps: all this is without paint, I haven't been able to try with paint yet)

Is this the lvlx or lvl7 bolt? If it's the lvlx you may want to try a larger carrier in the power-tube, and if it's a lvl7 I'm not really sure why it would not come back properly unless there was some kind of obstruction in the power-tube/bolt pin area. Post some more info

Check your detents too if its a ule body, if it stick out too far the bolt gets stuck.

It's an xvalve.

There are a lot of carriers in the parts kit and they all look the same size, but composed of different sized pieces of metal. How do I know which one is bigger?

They are marked with a . and _. Nothing on it is the smallest, . is the next on up, then .&_ ect ect. Should be in the lvl10 instructions.

Yes. 850 preset nitro tank.

hmm, and I just found a lvlx cd. Smallest, oddest shaped thing I've ever seen. It was hidden under some foam and behind a paper card too. I'll check this thing out and see if I can find what I need.

How do I dissasemble my lvl 10 so that I can add a shim? I'm adding a shim because that's what the cd said. Would adding a shim fix it?

I fixed it! Does overtightening the thumb screw cause problems? Because I loosened it and it works like a charm! YAY! You guys don't realize how happy I am. This is the first time to use my new setup to it's fullest(with upgrade). And it's the second time ever! I've been running into so many problems and I was ready to cry(not really) but I'm so happy!

Overtightening can cause the valve and body to go out of alignment, which would make the bolt bind on the body.

Yeah over or under tightening will cause problems. I find hand tightening never works and needs a bit (and only a bit) of a twist with a key. Also make sure your bolt is well lubed in between it and the spring and it and the power tube.

Never put oil on the outside of the bolt or the bolt spring. This oil transfers to the balls and the inside of the breach which will affect your accuracy.

None at all. Just keep it clean. When you do regular cleaning after a day of play, remove the valve and clean the outer surface of the bolt and the spring.

That sounds crazy to me. Once I cleaned my bolt and spring in my classic and forgot to lube it again and my gun would not fire. I have never noticed any accuracy problems.
