thanks for the input, Tao... does anyone else have any other thoughts on lubing the bolt & spring?

I am guilty of lubing the outside of my bolt. I have never had any trouble with my main spring wearing out, or bolt stick. At the same time, I think athomas has a definite point, and at least you should avoid anything more than a light film on the outside.

I got in a hurry once and lubed my ASA and forgot to take my barrel off. The lube had teflon in it and I had to shoot more than half a loader before the paint started shooting kind of straight A little spot of teflon in your barrel can make you shoot your team mate in the back, even though he's 10 feet off of your sight path. It messes up your velocity consistency too.

i was told to put rain x in your barrel. let it dry then clean it out with a good soft pipe brush. never done it.. I think all it would do would help if a ball brakes to shoot again and maybe t would just clean itself out.. im new so dont laugh.

That was definitely done by some on the old brass barrels (of other markers). I've heard of people doing that on some aluminum barrels lately too.

It should help fill in any pores and scratches in the bore, but you are giong to put more in anyway. On a pump it might last a while, and it might do something (?) in wet weather, but it is not an absolute. Probably has more to do with the individual barrel. It's hard to beat well polished stainless. :)
