Interesting. I have a 3k/68 flatline that is out of hydro...

Thanks for getting back on that.

Personally, I add a bit of grease to the threads before re-installing the bottle on the reg.

I also "just snug" the bottle on the reg, so it screws off easy the next time around. Air pressure stops it from turning

To remove a (flatline) regulator, I tighten the regulator in a lathe chuck (the reg is wrapped with fine emery paper, grit AWAY from the reg) and loosen the bottle with a strap wrench. I remove any gauges and/or fittings that are in the way.

When I re-install the bottle on the reg, I grease the threads, and only screw it on "snug". That way, it's much easier to get off the next time. Air pressure "locks" the bottle on, no problem.

You can re-build the reg WITHOUT removing the bottle. Do you have the AGD instructions?
Without the Flatline regulator removal tool, there is NO proper way to remove and reinstall this regulator. The Flatline MUST be TORQUED on to 25 ft lbs period. No "snug".. No "not too tight"...none of that will do. Do not attempt to remove this regulator if you dont know the proper way or have the correct tools. Also, NEVER put grease or oil on anything that goes inside the tank. That includes the regulator threads. Any foreign materials inside the tank will become a combustible possibly causing severe injury or death. Also, the Flatline regulator can NOT be completely overhauled properly without removing it from the tank. Safety first.

Makes you wonder about the hydro places that take any bottle/reg combination (fire, safety, paintball, etc.), do they all know what a flatline should be torqued at?

I wonder how AGD was assembling the Flatlines...this seems to refer to screw-in reg's

First on tank/regs that do not see any toritional loading ( read Twisting ) you dont need to use anything on the threads. IF you putteh reg down at 70-80ft lbs of torque its not going any where and you dont have to worry about it air bearing off.

If you have a tank that uses a preset or screw in reg, you should use some sore of a sealant along with 70-80ft lbs of torque. I use a small dab of red or blue and I mean small.

Part of the problem with locking agent is that when people try to take the regs off at a later date they do not take them off correctly and damage the tank or the reg. There is a right way to do things and a wrong and the wrong way to typically the easier way.
