Help.

I just purchased a used Automag and am having a couple issues I would like some help with.

First off I have what I believe to be an RT with the following upgrades.

X Valve
Level 10
ULT
ULE Body
RT Rail
Y-Frame
Unimount on/off
Dye HP Peanut Tank

Problems:

1. When I received the marker the first thing I did was air it up and shoot it. It will shoot a few times and then it stick open, air leaks and I need to pull the trigger a couple times to get it to close again.

2. I chrono'd it and it was at about 230, I chrono'd it up to 290 but it seems to be jumping up and down by 10-15 fps. I know I was shooting crappy, old chrono paint. But from what
I remember of my Emag, even with crappy paint and a .689 barrel, it was much more consistent.

I have received this marker, but not yet paid for it. Part of the agreement was I could verify functionality.

I put some oil in the macro fitting and fired it through the valve, it seemed to help out alot, but I am still having the problems with the velocity and it still sticks open.

As I am not a mag expert, I emailed Tunaman. I am wondering if it is possible that this is just an oring or something, but want to make sure it isn't a very costly problem to fix.

Sounds like you just need to tune the lvl 10. Theres a bunch of information on here. You can check the sticky at the top of the tech forum.

I haven't watched it but i found this "installation guide" on youtube, maybe it will help.

EDIT: Hpefully it came with the extra LVL 10 carriers, shims and orings.

Try some good consistent paint. Inconsistent paint will have inconsistent results.

Also, pull the on/off out of it and put some good oil on it (like autolube). While you have it apart, put a drop or two down the power tube and one drop on the bolt stem (part that goes into the power tube). After doing this put the bolt back on the power tube/valve assembly and rotate it around with your fingers and pull it on and off to work the oil around in there.

This may or may not help, but it could be that the gun has been sitting for a while and just needs some lovin'! Also when you go to air it up again after doing the above, put about 5-6 drops of oil in the ASA and screw the tank on and fire some shots into an old towel without the barrel on. This will cycle all that oil through the gun and won't leave oil residue in your barrel.

Last but not least if the above doesn't help, check the ULT. If it is super easy to pull the trigger and during multiple shots is when you get the weird velocity issues then you may want to take a few shims out of the ULT (on/off). If it wasn't tuned properly or perhaps the old owner was at a different elevation from you, you may need to tweak it just a little bit. The way it sounds though is the problem is within the on/off area.

If the valve is still fairly new and not all the way broken in, then the velocity fluctuations may be due to that. There used to be a method to chrono'ing an RT-Pro Mag and I think it was pull the trigger and hold it down and then do it again the same way for however many shots you are chrono'ing with. When I first got my RT-Pro Mag it was jumping from 280-305. After I used it for a while and got it good and broke in, then it was around the 290 mark.
