I have noticed the edge on my bolt is on my 68mag is getting worn down where the sear holds it in place. Is this a bad thing, and will it cause problems in the future, or should I just ignore it and keep playing with the same bolt/sear???

What brand/kind of bolt is is? Can you describe it.
Has the sear or on/off been modified in any way.
There really shouldent be any severe wear on the bolt.Did you hear about the new european weapons contracts? France is going to make the wooden sticks Spain making the little white flags

Parts wearing out is never good nomatter what.
It is normal for the bolt to wear in that area, but it shouldn't get really bad really fast. How old is the bolt? Also, check the edge of the wear that catches the bolt carefully for any chips. A chip in that area will cause excess bolt wear.
As for changeing it, as long as it works your fine pretty much. Eventually it will stop catching the sear every time, and fireing 2 or more times pre trigger pull.

The bolt is a foamiless bolt and it is made of stainless. The sear seems to still be in good condition, with only minimal wear, no serious chips or such.
Im pretty sure that the bolt and the sear are the stock ones that came with the gun. Im not positive because I bought it used and the guy that owned it before me was an idiot and bought lots of parts that he didn't need. (for example I have an on/off bottom and pin for a hyperframe, but no hyperframe...)
Oh well, maybe this is just an excuse to try out the superboltSelf-Proclaimed

the hyper has a reputation for eating bolts. The bolt was probably eaten when he had the hyper on there. If you use it manually it shouldnt be a concern.Did you hear about the new european weapons contracts? France is going to make the wooden sticks Spain making the little white flags

If it has a bunch of holes in the nose, it's ANS junk.
If it has a triangular piece as the nose, it's a quality AGD stock bolt.
Excessive wear is not normal. Since you say the previous owner was a "parts changer", chances are he messed with the trigger rod/sear assembly which could increase bolt wear.
Check www.airgun.com for the exploded view of the bolt and valve assemblies.
If your gun is still working OK (no double shots, run-away, or failure to fire) just keep on playing until it does. If you want new parts, just go to the store (link at top of page) and get what you need. If you have questions on which parts you will need, just list those parts that look worn or damaged on another thread, we'll help you out
