dumb question redux: x-chamber to vert ASA

Hi all! Thanks for the recent help with the n00b questions.

One more for all y'all but a bit of background first.

I want to put a vertical ASA at the front of the rail of a 68 Classic or Minimag, likely for a PPS Stabilizer.

I see some units have "nothing" installed, others have an expansion chamber and still others a gas-through grip.

I gather the expansion chambers bolt on directly where the gas-through grips screw into a vert ASA which is itself bolted on to the rail, correct?

Do all of these have the same type of attach point so if I buy unit that's had the expansion chamber, I could just swap in the vert ASA?

    Thanks again,
    C.J.

There's a blind hole in the classic frame for the mounting screw for the ASA. You have to punch it or drill it out. All of the expansion chambers I have seen screwed into the stock ASA. Some grips are made for the ASA and some are not. The ASA grips are more stout and you can go 'gas-thru'. The non-ASA grips are very light. I have never seen an expansion chamber that didn't need the ASA. I wouldn't think it would be profitable.

They all use the same mounting screw though, so keep up with it. :)
