    Damage to Lvl 10 bolt

I sent my 'mag to get anno'd a while back and when it returned, it was missing the body C-clip. I figured it would be faster to get the part replaced than have the annodizer try and find it. The gun works fine without it (or so it appears), but I'd like the security of knowing that my 'mag won't die on the field because of the missing part.

Also, since recieving and using the marker, the bolt has developed "notches" or "cuts" on the beveled edge of the Level 10 bolt. I have a ULT kit w/ 6 shims, and running at 1100-1200 psi, the sear looks new as far as wear is concerned. Would not having the C-clip or any of these factors contribute to what is going on with bolt?
    Thanks,

Firing the marker without the steel body washer and clip will ruin it for sure. Looks like you may need a new body and bolt...

very bad idea, don't play with it at all untill you get the clip. Of course, if you've already fubar'd the gun(which from the looks of the bolt, is a possibility) you may as well just get a new body.

But I don't see any wear inside the body or on the sear. Body wear would evident if the anno was rubbed off by the bolt cycling, and the sear would have dull rounded edge, right?

You may have two different problems (from the same anno job). If nothing has moved and you can still get the c-clip in you may have gotten lucky on the body.

After 8 cases I am starting to show some bolt wear on the front of a bolt lip, probably due to the 0.712 on/off pin I put a 0.728 pin in it to see if that will stop it. I don't like using shims if I can get away with it.

From your pic the bolt doesn't look too deformed, but the marks on the back side look like the sear is hitting the bolt on the return.

Ah *lightbulb*, that would answer the bit about the body. I don't think the sear can normally catch the back of the bolt. The bolt has to travel further forward than it is designed to in order to back up to the sear, so it would seem that your c-clip was being 'missed'. Check the front tip of the sear and see if it has some wear or marks. It normally would not have any.

Were you able to put paint though the marker with it like that?
