quick ? re. HPA fill nipples

I purchased a used 114 tank with an Air America Raptor valve off eBay. Received it today. I've never had an HPA system in my hands before, so bear with me. I thought the fill nipple was supposed to have a check ball in it. I just removed it and, you guessed it, no check ball. It looks like it never had a check ball. It looks identical to the male half of a quick disconnect. It's supposed to have a check ball, right? I got a pretty good deal on the setup and thought that since it was Air America, they would stand behind it, but I'm a little ticked right now.

BTW, I asked the seller what the hydro date on the tank was. He responded that he could find no date on the tank, but he says it's less than a year old. The hydro date is 12-98, so I need to get it tested. Can anyone point me to where I can get a hydro test qucik and cheap?

there should be just a male end sticking out the side of the valve. you can just take it to your local store and they will have it hydroed. it is usually about 30 bucks though.
