    Various Mag Troubles

Ok, today, I tried out my Tac-One. There were a few problems.

    1) This thing was jumping all over the chrono. It would go from 330 to 250 and back. Most of the time I was shooting mad hot. I was using the red spring.

    2) Every few shots, the gun wouldn't fire. I was not out of air either.

    3) Where can I buy shims, orings, and carriers?

    4) Spacers and carriers aren't the same thing right?

    Gah!

clean your reg, and change the orings. That will probally solve your chorno problem. I would guess that the times that your marker wouldnt fire is because your reg was not providing enough air.

goodluck, a parts kit and maybe a few extra orings and you'll be doin alright... take it a step at a time, rebuild the reg half before you do anything else... be sure to lube everything maan and you should be fine. i'd just do a cleaning/relubricate on the lvl-10 and see whats up b4 you think about swapping anything out.

Using too small of a carrier in your Lvl 10 could also cause what you are experiencing. Tune your Lvl 10. Do this outside, because heat and humidity can affect tuning the Lvl 10.

                Tuning your Lvl 10:
Oil your o-ring, put it into the 2.0 carrier (2 lines, no dots), slide it onto the bolt stem and attempt to dangle the bolt (you are holding the carrier while trying this). If the bolt slips off the carrier from its own weight, go to a smaller carrier. Use the largest carrier that will not allow the bolt to slip off using this test. Do not add any shims yet. Oil everything, assemble, and break in the o-ring by shooting out a tank of air. After doing this, you may need to change carriers and use the next smallest. Now, start adding shims one at a time until it leaks down the barrel. Take a shim out. You are ready to go.

Still the best L10 tuning guide I've seen.

Largely thanks to Tuna. He is the one who taught me the trick about dangling the bolt. That is amazingly useful. Before, the best I could tell someone was, "Oil it and slide the carrier onto the bolt stem. If it feels too tight, go to a larger carrier." Not incredibly useful when you are trying to help someone tune their Lvl 10 for the first time via email or a forum post.

                    Thanks again, Tuna!

One more thing-my on/off pin is sliding out. Not completely, but enough to the point where I can't get the valve out the back. How do I fix this?

That is normal, as you are trying to pull out the valve pull the trigger and it will depress the on/off and release the air that is caught there and allow you to more easily remove the valve.
