So I'm a bit rusty at this...

It has been a year and a half since I played and taken anything apart, but I don't think I remember everything.

I found a minimag at a local shop for wicked cheap, but the thing looks like it was played with heavaly and then set in a closet without being cleaned. the safty will not budge, the barrel abd nody have stuff caked in it. the bolt and rail have somekind of liquid in it, I am guessing "rotten" lube.

the place wouldn't let me run air threw it, store policy cause no-one could, and tools were required to get the valve off and plyers to get the braded quick reliese hose off. there wern't any stars left so i couldn't sent it in.

I would guess a rebuild kit to start and a massive cleaning. what else could I look for to make sure I am not starting a lost cause?

Yeah... massive cleaning and a rebuild kit.

It's not a lost cause, though. The minimag is pretty much all stainless steel, so as long as you get all the gunk off and replace o-rings, it should work fine.

As for the safety.... mine doesn't work either (but I only play woodsball). You CAN buy replacement safeties for relatively cheap if you need to have it.

A good cleaning and new orings should get this beast back up and running.

Put some good penetrating oil in around the safety. You may be able to work it free.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

So I got the Minimag last night fer $75- ($80 w/ ttl) finally talked them to run air thou 'er before purchise, shoots like a charm with anchint o-rings and caked on paint and goo.

got home and tore 'er apart. most everythign came off with water ad scrubing. but I have a few trouble spots...

inside the body, how do i get inthere to clean whatever is caked on in there? I don't have many tools, just a left over cheapo multi tool and allens from previous guns.

and how to I get the trigger and safty out? I tried everything I could remember, nothing got the trigger bar (whatever its called) to budge. neither would the safty, granted it really dosn't matter, but I like a safty cause I have been know to accedently hit the trigger, and that sucker wouldn't budge for anything.

and another thing that bugs me, when I took it apart, the barrel was a little resistant to get out, which I assumed was the caked on crap, but after cleanign all around that and getting all the cake off, it is extremely harder to get the barrle in and out... what the hey? kinda worries me. I remeer someone saying if you ofer and mistorque the ULE bodies you can get someting like that, but the is a minimag and every thing is only fingter tight. any idearz whats going on?

Body is SS so soak it in hot water with a mild cleaning detergent. I like Simple Green myself. Wait until water has cooled, then use a heavy plastic bristle brush and scrub it clean. Repeat as necessary.

Tap the little gray pin out and the trigger will come out after, it takes some finesse, so be careful. I suggest some wd-40 on the safety.

Sounds like the barrel orings or wire nubbin might be jammed, I would replace both and lightly oil the orings with a paintball approved oil only. Petroleum based oils will cause them to swell.

Did you remove the screw to get the safety out maybe thats causing it to stick? there should be a screw above the safety on top of the frame....If taking this out doesn't work try tapping it a little bit w/ a hammer don't use excessive force(some thing could be broken in it but you can pick up spare safety's from AGD's website)

              Twist Lock Trouble

Check out the condition of the Twist Lock detent. It might be corroded or just have all that gunk stuck in there. Simple Green is awesome!

yeah there is still stuff caked on the twist lock. and i am pretty sure there cake in the safty as well. I am still trying to gtet a rebuild kit but it is either everyone is sold out or my CC is not going thrugh, one or ther ohter, it is becoming a pain in the deir-iear.

still shoots like a dream (the trigger dosn't stick while aired and fired, only at rest) I am worried about the reg-piston though, if all the o-rings are orange and brown, but not brittle, I can only hope that those parts are ok.

I keep an old toothbrush for cleaning good inside the body tube. Look on ebay for o ring and rebuild kits. You can find them for around 10-12 dollars shipped. The good ones include a bolt spring.

Don't buy the cheap aftermarket oring kits. More often than not, some of the orings don't work well due to tolerance issues, especially the regulator seat orings.

Get in touch with one of dealers here on AO. They can get you an oring kit fast and cheap.

I use a long nylon bristled bottle brush to clean mine, it will go all the way down the mainbody and down most barrels too.
