    On/Off O-Rings Not Seating Correctly

OK, so sort of a weird problem here. The two o-rings under the on/off top (the teflon on/off o-ring and the power tube o-ring that it fits inside) don't seem to flatten out quite right in my Minimag. Seems like the teflon one won't stay inside the other. I can push the on/off in and it pops out a little as soon as I let go. I currently have a rubber band holding the on/off in so it'll hopefully stay once I take it off. Anyway, how can I get both o-rings to stay put in there? And if I can't, will it affect performance?

are you sure you have the regular power tube oring and not the level 10 power tube oring (which is smaller)?

    This is my only guess.

Don't own a level 10, so no. The really weird thing is that I took my Minimag apart to clean it like I have a million times, stuck it all back together in exactly the same order with exactly the same parts that I took out and now it doesn't fit right. This has never happened to me before. I suppose I could try swapping o-rings between my 'mags and see if that works...

The outer oring usually isn't that tight. Are you sure you have the correct one?
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Pretty sure. Then again, everyone who puts stuff back together and comes on here with a problem is pretty sure they put it together right. Don't see how I could have screwed it up, though, but I'll check when I get home.

Just to confirm my suspicions: This'll cause it to leak like crazy when I air it up, right? Cheers.

If the bolt gets pushed forward due to the on-off top not sealing properly it will leak out the front. If you push the bolt back into position, it should stop leaking.

OK, problem solved. I think. I swapped the power tube o-ring with the one in the power tube, and the teflon o-ring still popped out. So I swapped that o-ring with the other teflon one in the on/off, and it fits fine. Won't know until I air it up, but it seems like that did the trick. And yes, to my best visual inspection, both o-rings that I swapped were exactly the same and fairly new (rebuilt the 'mag last year).

              Weird.

Hopefully it works out. Maybe something caused the oring to become deformed.
