Just started messing around with my 68 automag and I noticed when I gass it up there is a leak coming from the back where you ajust the volocity. When I pull the trigger the leak stops but only for a second then it starts to leak more and more every second.. Also I notice that if I fire the gun really fast it looses power with every shot until its sompletly dead, then I wait for a second and it seems to fire fine exept for the leak.. Please Help thank you..

Automag 68 leaking probem
Thanks for the fast reply. Ok turned it down and the leak seemed to stop or atleat be minimal then took it outside and put some paint through it and it barley made 25 ft. So after turning it back up 1/4 turn it seemed to shoot but but inconsistat . Then after shooting about 10 balls as fast as i could pull the trigger it started leaking really bad out the back, i fired once the leak stop for a second then started to leak bad again,....Comment

Just replaced the regulator piston Oring (I think) I replaced the O ring that came out of regulator nut ..Gassed up and same problem!!.. When turned down with little pressure it does not leak but turn up just slighlty it leaks bad.. Sometimes after I pull the trigger the leak will stop but when left for 5-10 seconds the leak starts to increase...Comment

Take the regulator piston assembly out and clean that area. Replace the oring around the assembly, not the one on the adjustment nut. The oring on the nut is only to keep the nut tight. It doesn't seal anything. Also , take the valve apart and clean it. There may be a piece of dirt in the regulator seat oring. You should replace this oring anyway, especially after taking the valve apart. An old regulator seat oring will cause the problems you are experiencing.Originally posted by MyzekJust replaced the regulator piston Oring (I think) I replaced the O ring that came out of regulator nut ..Gassed up and same problem!!.. Would this fix the problem
I was wondering if The ANS Mag Phase 2 regulator would fix my problem . because the automag parts kit it $20 and this reg is only $29 plus I already have a RT parts kit it just does not have the part that I need.. Any info would be appredcaited.. The url to this valve is

I have replaced all the o rings that I could find ... I did notice that the regulator seat has a crack in it.. But since all I have is a RT parts kit there is no regulator seats in there... Ugh .. Frustrating... If that is replaced would that solve my problem.. And is the only place I can get them on the airgun website???Comment

You should replace the regulator seat oring even if it looks good. If it is old and you have had the valve apart, it needs to be replaced. It will cause problems like you are experiencing. The orings you need to maintain your gun are not included in a RT oring kit. You need a classic automag oring kit.
The automag valve back is not causing your problems. You do not need to buy an ANS back section.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.Comment

I just recently started experiencing this same problem with both of my SS valves( 68/minimag) I usually run two tanks of hpa, then my co2 tanks. I called Jay at the feild and he tryed to help me fix my problem but shortly after it started again. May get two rebuild kits/stick with co2 with a filter.Comment

Mags like HPA. Stick with the air. If there is dirt in the compressed air, then you need the filter installed for using the air. Most often air is cleaner than CO2 due to the CO2 sources being dirty (usually rusty tanks) and most air compressors have filters on them to keep dirt out for the protection of the air compressor.Originally posted by sixtoes1313I just recently started experiencing this same problem with both of my SS valves( 68/minimag) I usually run two tanks of hpa, then my co2 tanks. Most of these problems are due to hardened regulator seat orings in the air valves. This is an easy fix. You should keep a few around for such fixes.Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.Comment

While a lot of people used to say that mags don"t care what kind of oil they use, the urethane seats and orings don't like some of the light gun oils, especially cleaner/lubricants like rem-oil. After a month or two you will probably notice some hardening of seals and hoses with those oils. The old hoppe's gun oil wasn't too bad, but now there are so many synthetic and silicone lubes that you might as well stick with something 'approved' or at least compatible.
The last lube you put on it and how long and where you stored it has more to do the condition of your seals than most of the wear and dirt you put on them (assuming that you lube them in the first place
