Using a reed switch to fire a gun?

I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried to use a reed switch in place of a microswitch or whatever. It would be pretty much the same deal as a HES if I'm understanding correctly, but it would be more interchangeable with the standard microswitch.
If this has been done before, can they handle the wear and tear?
Just curious.. I'm not very satisfied with my current trigger pull.

I don't actually know what a reed switch is, but what is unsatisfactory about the trigger pull? Too "clicky"/ too hard? You could change it out for a 25-g microswitch, you don't even feel the click when you activate it if you have some spring/magnet trigger return (which you need on that light of a switch, it can runaway otherwise)

To be honest, I'm just a tinkerer and like to try out new things. My pull isn't ALL that bad

A reed switch should work fine electrically. They last for years cycling once a second. They have pretty quick response, but you would want to have a way to adjust your magnets. In general, they will probably have significantly more hysteresis (length of pull vs. length of release) than a hall effect sensor.
