    Magnetic Trigger

A thought occurred to me today while at work thinking about my pneumatic zgrip what im waiting on parts for.

would it be possible to make a magnetic trigger?

This is how I envisioned it would work. I would attach one of the small powerful NIB magnets to the trigger and another to the actuating lever of the MSV2 3way. They would be set up to repel each other so that when the trigger was pulled the repulsive force between the two magnets would cause the 3-way to actuate and fire the marker.

Anyone attempted to do this before? If so am I wasting my time with this idea?

It would be hard to get the actuating lever to reset when the trigger is released.

It might have a neat feel to it, but I think you will still encounter the same resistance. It would probably feel easy at first and then get strangely hard toward the end of the pull.

doesnt air pressure reset the lever on the msv2? as you release the trigger it should reset just like normal

You would have have some pretty powerful rare earth magnets and they'd have to get fairly close.
Magnetic attraction force is proportional to the square of the distance... so they gotta be close or very powerful.

I can only imagine it would make the trigger pull longer, mushier, and no lighter.

What the heck... the banner advertisement is for rare earth magnets. That's creepy.
Is the banner related to keywords on the page or something?

this was really for curiosity sake. I hope my parts show up soon. I would really like to see how this would work

Heh, that comment just made me chuckle

I'm sure the board software uses some keyword searching to magically place banners. I've seen some non-pb related stuff on here before.
