    MicroMag Assault Rifle

OK, So I am getting in a MicroMag body, and am looking at the possiblity of turning it into a MicroMag Assault Rifle.

I am looking for all of you Metal Shop folks to help me out, I'm not exactly how I would attach it but that partly where you come in.

I would be looking to have it created, milled and anodized flat black. I would appreciate pricing as well from anyone willing to take on the project. Below is my concept.

Shop boys would only be responsible for 1, 2, & 3 plus anodizing.

    Comments Welcome.

I remember that different aluminum types anodizes differently, so you might want to match the type of aluminum that they used for the micro-mag body. Unless you don't mind the colors being off just a little bit. Hope your project works out.

p.s. oh and you might need to make an adapter block to attach the rear adjustable stock, I don't think you can mount it directly to the valve in the micro-mag.

specops makes a tourney to woods stock that attaches to the gripframe for about 120 i think might be a lil easier for yea i have a lb stock but dont see how you could attach it to a micro without modding gl in that hope i helped http://www.specialopspaintball.com/s...046&CAT=109201 or http://www.specialopspaintball.com/s...045&CAT=109201

you may want to go tothe underground mod shop

the guy running that site coes a lot of custom milsim work. he may be able to help you out.

also look at post 27 in this thread richies e tac

you'll most likely be using the back of the rail as your attachment point, there's a good chunk of un-used meat there. back in the day, AGD used to put a back bottle ASA back there behind the grip frame.

        good luck.

in line rear stocks look cool
but they don't work well with a mask

you need the sights way high up to compensate:

mounting a stock on the rear of an AGD valve is difficult

The spec ops shroud mounts on the standard rail and the stock attaches to the rear of it.

another rear stock mount up is the AGD rear rail ASA:

Ok, your going to have trim back part of the body that extends over the reg portion of the valve. Then, simply thread the outer rear half of the reg body and machine a coupler that has suitable threads to screw in a CAR adjustable stock.

For the front rail, your going to have pick out a freefloat rail. Your going to want a "carbine" length tube. I suggest one of the ebay knockoffs rather than purchasing a real $100-$300 quad rail. If you get a real FF rail go with YHM - they are quality and <$100... if you go with a knockoff, ebay has a few. Then you simply have to redesign a custom barrel nut. Match the outer threads of the nut so the FF rail can attach to it, and then instad of the AR15 reciever threads, simply open the inside up and add a 45* hole underneath with a counterbore to screw into the normal micromag vert grip spot.

Another (less sophisticated and cheaper) option you have for a quad rail is to purchase standard AR15 quad forend replacements. Then discreetly machine 4 set screw holes around the front and back. Set screws can be placed in the hole to "pinch" the barrel. The quad rail is more or less part of the barrel. Only problem you would have to worry about is your barrel unscrewing - but you could incorporate some sort of indexing set screw so it sets to the body. Once again, you could use the standard micromag forgrip screw hole - make a picatinny rail to micromag screw hole adapter.

Then you'll need a foregrip, light, laser, and reflex/eotech.

EDIT: OK, go with the second quad rail idea and forget about using set screws to pinch the barrel. All you would need is an adapter made that screws into the minimag foregrip mount and extends under the tube (attaching to the rail). It would work out nicely IMO.

Thanks guys, keep the ideas coming... Pneumagger I was thinking something along the lines of using the foregrip threading to keep the shroud in place as well...!!!

dont fall with only one screw to hold all that mass + your body wieght and inertia from the fall + impact = broken stripped part just a thought

Heres my idea for the moutning of the shroud over the barrel:

Have someone fabricate a small insert bracket that will screw into the 45 degree front fore grip space built into the micro mag body,.. let the bracket extend to the interior of your shoud where it can be permantly mounted. (Something like the small spacer between the micromag body and the battery pack on a Micro E-Mag.)

The top portion of the shroud could have a sight rail adapter that would slide on and you could use a small grunt screw to hold it in place.

With that assembly in mind, you would put your barrel on first,.. then slide the shroud over the barrel and into the sight rail and vertical ASA mount on the mag body. Tighten 2 screws and your set.

This should also address the twisting/falling and breaking issue as well.
